My house has a lot of love for Harleys. Jim.
I've owned and ridden a number of Harleys back in the day, but I never looked down on whatever anyone else was riding. I'm just a motorcycle enthusiast. As a matter of fact, I've also owned a few Hondas, Triumphs and even a Kawasaki. From dirt bikes to sport bikes to cruisers. Just ride what makes you happy.

I'm used to people saying "nice Harley" when I ride my Honda. Some even lose interest when the find out it's a Honda.

Nice Honda Fury. I've been around long enough to know the difference and that it makes no difference to me. I wouldn't be ashamed to be seen sharing some of the same pavement. I've seen a number of your posts in this thread about your experiences with your motorcycle of choice and I dig your enthusiasm for what you've got.

Ride safe and carry on brother.

    Partial to Yamaha myself.

I learned to ride on a ‘74 Honda CB350-4. Then rode a V45 for awhile.

Now I just enjoy my vintage FJ1100.

I’m trying to decide if it’s worth restoring an old Yamaha RD350. It’s all cafe’d out with period parts.

That’s pretty much how I learned to ride a street bike as well after my brief foray into dirt biking with a Suzuki RM 250. That thing was a legit 2 stroke motocross torque monster. I quit riding it after I damn near killed myself. My oldest sister’s boyfriend at the time had a Honda CB350 street bike that he let me ride. I was really into those old classic Honda CBs and Kawasaki KZs back in my early days after that.

I remember a history teacher/basketball coach back when I was in junior high. His name was George Kapp. He had a Norton Commando that I thought was the coolest thing ever.

Good times were had for sure. Miss those old classics.

Then I got into Harleys and Triumphs for quite a few years and had a great time and a lot of good memories after which I came full circle back to a Honda. One of the last motorcycles I've ever owned was a Honda Valkyrie. I had to reluctantly sell the last Harley I owned because I needed the money at the time. I was without a motorcycle for a couple of years before I bought the Valkyrie.

When I got back into a position to buy another bike it was right in the middle of the HD boom when it was uber trendy, everyone just had to have one and they became outrageously expensive and hard to get, even the used ones. There was gouging going on like crazy. It pretty much turned me off. That's when I said the hell with it and went down to the local Honda dealership (Lake Cycle) and bought the Valkyrie brand new in stock off the showroom floor for about half the price of an HD.

Don’t ride anymore like I used to due to some physical disabilities now, but I did my share back in the day.

I'm not much of a cruiser guy, but that's one cool looking bike. I could find a way to work that into a few trips.

To me Honda means more reliable and way more affordable, especially in the used market.

Touchy question, but what kind of a lid and jacket do you wear on that? No judgement, but those sexy cruisers look like they are no or minimum helmet sort of bikes?

The RD350 is a classic that should be restored and saved for special riding days. They are still very popular world wide,

Thanks. Coming off a sport bike I had sport bike riding gear. I also ride the Fury more like a sports bike than a cruiser. I still like the security of a full face helmet and the armoured jacket seems fine to me. My snazzy leather sport bike pants have become too snug over the years so I'm shopping textile/jeans pants this spring.

My foray into a sports bike type consisted of a Triumph Trophy 900 that looked just like this one. (Also purchased at Lake Cycle when they were a Honda/Triumph/Ducati dealership) Really loved that bike and I had all the necessary gear to go with it.
