Dumb but not far off from how the media portrayed Black Talons back in the day.
As I recall one of the biggest beefs with BTs was the sharpness of the jacket petals. Surgeons kept cutting their hands when they tried to remove the bullets during surgery when they tried it digitally vs forceps.

But I could be wrong. Its been a while.

Yes, that was part of the BS too, like criminals actually use premium ammo and copper jackets on other bullets don't have sharp edges as well. The funny thing is that Winchester basically dropped sales of Black Talon handgun bullets to the public but continued with the same bullet design with a different name in rifle calibers.

Someone trying to return 62 grain green tip 556, because it was illegal to possess unless you were police or military and he didn’t want to go to jail.

Walking into a gun store looking for an m1 carbine, and briefly talking to the guy behind the counter when he says “ that’s old outdated trash, you need to get with the times and get an ar15”

Trying to buy a wasr at Midwest gun and and they wouldn’t sell because the state i lived in at the time (Colorado, i was home visiting) had a magazine ban

actually any conversation at Midwest gun

“I only need to shoot one time with my 45”

“can you make my rifle fire fully automatic?”

“I can shoot 380 in my makarov but it doesn’t cycle the best”

(revolver comes in with squib loads from the muzzle to the chamber)
“I’m not sure how it happened, it’s my friends but he didn’t have time to bring it in”

    One of my personal favorites

“I couldn’t find any 300 win mag, so I looked up the ballistics and I’ve been shooting 7mm-08 out of it, but it keeps keyholing for some reason”

so many more to the point where if I get pulled into a conversation at involving firearms at a store or gun show I do my best to get out of the conv

I went to Bradis to try to buy an AR stripped lower with some particular features. I asked the guy at the counter and he told me "they don't make those and they never did".
When I tried to explain what I was looking for, he cut me off and assured me that he was a part time cop, retired military, etc and that he knew good and well what he was talking about. He went on to lecture me that all ar lowers are the exact same except for the markings because they are all milspec.

Wtf? Really? I understand being ignorant. I am often ignorant. I do not understand why some folks need to be so aggressive in their ignorance.
Well I can guarantee that I wasn't the one that waited on you. If someone says that a lower or something has a new feature I want to see for myself so I will go look up what they are talking about.(Hell it may be one I want. Lool) I try to keep up with all the changes but it is impossible. Now, That being said I do work with a couple of young bucks that think they know everything and won't listen to anyone or anything. I stick around for the Good customers that I have, the guys on here that I deal with and naturally the chance to fondle new products. Been there 10 years and I am a part-time employee at the shop. I have milspec lowers that I use myself and I have some upgraded ones also and I have a lot of nice things I have bought or built through the shop over the years. If the customer wants a high dollar lower and I can find it for them then I just earned another regular customer of mine. Treat the customer well and they will come back looking for you. I treat everyone the same till they give me a reason not too. Rant over

I was recently picking up a transfer and a very agitated individual who spoke very broken english came in and started taking pictures of everything.

Asked about fals, ars, and aks. Tried to take my picture but i told him not to.

Said he loved guns, multiple times, and then left...

Stupid? maybe not. But boy did that send up every damn red flag i have for weird and creepy.

It takes more than a primer to push a bullet. :lol2:
:): Actually, I was used to S&W K frames and that little Colt just looked so "delicate" by comparison, so I was acting out of an abundance of caution (obviously unnecessarily!). I was still very much new to handguns in general and to reloading in particular.

They continued using the projectile design in handgun calibers too. They just changed the packaging and deleted the black coating on the projectiles. It was sold as Winchester Ranger SXT which people joked stood for "Same eXact Thing".

FYI - the modern Winchester Ranger T-series, which is excellent self-defense ammunition, is just an evolution of that original design.

The Fort Wayne Rural King has some decent, knowledgeable help behind the counter. I talked to a morning staffer awhile back. I gentleman came in and asked to see a revolver. He kept looking at the bottom of the handle......looking for quite a while at the butt of the revolver......then he asked the RK staffer how the magazine ejected and was quite flustered. RK staffer took the revolver, hitting the cylinder release, which he had checked before handing it to the customer, and showed the empty cylinder to the customer.....

"The bullets go here!!! In the REVOLVING CYLINDER.....thus the name....a REVOLVER."

Was in a shop in the peoples republic of South Bend looking at a S&W revolver a few years ago. I told the gun clerk I was left handed and usually kept to semi-auto but like revolvers. He let me know they could "special order" the same S&W in a left handed model but I'd need to pay for it prior to the order..... Thanked him and left.

Not to throw a shop under the bus but it was when a new shop opened in South Bend catering to fatales. They had just opened so I'd hope the shop is different now. They've moved to a different location I think so they must be doing better. I hope they make it a long time. We need good LGS. I was just stunned by the response.

Gee, I guess so, and with an extended reversible magazines as well. Talk about cutting edge tecnology! :lmfao:
Hey, I just thought of something. Awhile back I bought a 25 round drum magazine for my 1911 on a lark. Reckon it would work with my Ruger Blackhawk convertible with the 45 acp cylinder?? ;)
