Long hair should ooze? Is that the draw? My dog was a medium haired mut. He wasn't all that into mud-rolling. But he'd roll in some **** whenever he caught a whiff.

Yes, Golden's are notorious for mud baths. We learned real quick when he was a puppy that if the head went down and he would start to roll his shoulders he was going in.

We had a area we called the "lake". We referred to it that way because of the ground depression and all the water would drain there from my and my neighbors house. Sometimes the lake wold be a 20x20 square about 3 inches deep.

After Mrs. IBM passed, I had the old PVC fence removed and had the new vinyl coated chain link fence placed so lake was now outside of the back yard. Trying to give a 90 pound Golden a bath when you've suffered a mini stroke is not what I call a experience I was to encounter.

Yes, my boy Cooper looked like that on more than a couple of occasions.

Our BC mix who had to be put down about 5 years ago was the queen of rolling in rabbit :poop:. Could not tell you how many times I carried her 40 pound butt into the shower wearing my work pants to keep her from scratching my legs up. Easiest way to get he clean. She would always find the nastiest rabbit poop in the world to roll in. She had a smooth coat (short hair).

Not really, mushy and fresh can be washed out a whole easier than rabbit poop that's started to get a little hard and then ground into the fur.
    Been there done that.
My experience has been far different. With rabbits, horses, goats, and dogs, I've seen them roll in it all. Some dogs can't cannot resist getting as stinky as they possibly can. :lmfao:
