That’s the question that I hate to see. How is that relevant in this situation? It is essentially leaving that question blank,
It's there becasue some States allow non-binary or the person NOT to list their sex on their ID. The only time non-binary is to be checked is if one of those two things has occurred. The info from the government issued ID has to match what's entered into the NICS system so they had to take that into account when they redid the forms back in November of 2020.

Any one have insight into NFA vs 4473? I was arrested twice as a juvenile, no convictions, I've passed printing checks a number if times for various jobs and provide my SSN on 4473s no problems. Any reason to think nfa forms would be an issue?
You shouldn't have a problem. Juveniles, unless charged and convicted as an adult are only considered to be delinquents so while they may have a Court record they do not have a criminal record. Since you were never convicted then you are not even considered to have been a delinquent.

Fun fact, people think that Juvenile records are sealed and that is true to a point. They are sealed to the public but if you commit an offense as an adult that requires a pre-sentcence report to filed with the Court then your juvenile record will be brought up to show a pattern of behavior for the Judge to consider when sentencing.

    Thanks for the context.

I'm realizing that paying for the stamp for a 22 can is probably cheaper than getting a PCP air rifle that would satisfy me, and I want a really quiet small caliber for small game hunting.

May or may not be relevant for your situation, but may warrant consideration. Keep in mind some municipalities may prohibit using a suppressed 22 where a PCP is lawful to discharge within their jurisdiction. So there is that.

I pored over that form, reading and re-reading very carefully. Checking a box, and then re-reading it.

Still got a 5 day hold on my pistol. I've NEVER gotten a hold put on a firearm before. Lady in the gunshop said, "Ohh, we've been getting this a lot lately."

    Hmm.... I wonder why....
I've gotten a delay a couple of times, other times it's went right through. I'm guessing part of it at least now is the amount that they are getting. If they can't clear it in a minute or two, delay and check into it when they have more time. Or if it comes in and they don't have time to check it right away because of a backlog, same. I recently bought an AR in the middle of the day, cleared quick. A couple weeks later bought a pistol, early evening (6ish or so). Place was crowded they had two computers for the 4473 and they were both tied up with people waiting, right after the stimulus checks started showing up in peoples accounts. Delayed.

If you brain fart one of the questions and get denied the purchase, how long should you wait to try again?
A brain fart on the 4473 shouldn’t get you denied, on the 4473 you answer the questions, the dealer looks over the form, if you answer the questions wrong (i.e. have you ever been convicted of a crime of domestic violence) and you mark yes, then the dealer denies you, they won’t even call nics, and when the dealer calls Nics they don’t read your answers to Nics, if nics denies you, then it’s because you lied on the form (ie you answer the domestic violence question wrong on purpose) and that’s a federal offense! Unless you win the appeal! Now I’ve never seen the fbi or batfe prosecute anyone one a 4473 lie

at least that’s the way it was in 2019 when the shop I worked for closed

I want to have a "prefer not to answer" and put down my symbol instead of my name.

    This stupidity is so stupid

I kind of want to put nonbinary and see what happens. My guess is nothing, other than a curious look from the guy processing your form lol.
If the guy who is processing the form is paying attention then you would have to redo it to match what is on your photo ID. The only time that non-binary is to be checked is if the the government issued ID either has non-binary or omits the sex. If the ID has either male or female then that is what has to be on the form.

Good point. Didn't think about that, but I wonder I could pull the whole "I'm gender fluid" card. ;) jk lol

    Forgive my ignorance.

    What is "PCP"?

Pre charged pneumatic. Small on board airtank that you charge up to 3-4k PSI and allows for semi auto, no recoil, other fun stuff. Fair amount or gear to get started but really impressive performance and benefits.

Trying to figure out the suppressor/airrifle hunting legality quilt actually doesn't seem trivial.
