neither of the two I sent back had different numbers, in fact if it had a different number, they couldn’t send it to you, they’d have to send it to a dealer and you’d have to fill out a 4473 and undergo a background check.

none of the people I know who sent in theirs got new serial numbers

Not true, a manufacturers are allowed to replace a reciever with a new one with a new serial number and ship it back to the customer without a dealer / 4473 being done.

Where the repair of a customer’s firearm results in an exchange of a frame or receiver, an entry
shall be made in the licensee’s records to show the transfer of such replacement part, as it is a
“firearm” as defined in 18 U.S.C. 921(a)(3). Further, as held in ATF Ruling 74-20, 1974 ATF
C.B. 61, a Form 4473, Firearms Transaction Record, shall not be required to record the
disposition of a replacement firearm of the same kind and type where the firearm is delivered by
the licensee to the person from whom the malfunctioning or damaged firearm was received. The
frame or receiver received from the customer shall be entered as an acquisition, and if destroyed,
it shall be entered in the disposition record as destroyed.

Question for the experts here. The P229 that I just bought is a factory refurb and came with 3 15 round mags. When I check Greg Cotes site, the list an 18 round mag but say that it does not work with later 9mm pistols that use the wider body 40/357 sized mags. How do you tell what type 9mm that you have?

Never mind. The barrel hood and mags point to it being a later series with the wider mags

I’ve been getting to know the P229 a bit over the last couple of days and am happy with what I have. The P229 Elite comes with the SRT which explains why the trigger feels so much better than I remember the old P6 we had feeling. I do find myself surfing GB looking for surplus P229s in .40 but also now realize that it may have to make a trip back to Sig to have parts added if I want the same feel in a plain ole P229 in .40.

I’ve been looking at 10mm P220 Legions lately and really like the idea of adding one to the family except for the 8 round capacity. What’s up with that? It’s a full sized gun with a compact capacity. I would expect the capacity to be 12 to 15 in a gun that size. Any idea what prevents Sig from having a better capacity on that?

Even the double stack P227 in .45acp only has a 10 round capacity.

I tend to assume that manufacturers try to make the most use of grip space and forget that they still do single stack mags. That’s odd in that I carry a 1911 mostly now days. As much as I’d love to pick up a 10mm Legion, I am having trouble wrapping my head around having a lower capacity than in my Delta Elite.

Same thoughts I had when I was last interested and looking at 10mm handguns. To get good capacity, you had to go Glock/XDM/2011. I can tell you which route I'd go....:)

Has anyone tried to RIT dye the Wilson Combat FDE P320 grip modules? I wonder if the polymer would dye and one could get a grey frame as a result? I had good luck in the past with PMags.

I've had and sold 2 G20s. Those just don't grab me for some reason.

There were some threads on this on sigtalk.com. Seems I recall varying results of color actually turning out as intended.

There are some rumors of a 10mm 320 I believe both OEM and/or a grayguns model.
