Oh well. I had the same distraction. Did go to Philmont. Backpacking and camping were my favorite. Merit badges not so much.

I got to go to one Order of the Arrow ceremony at Tunnel Mill....To this day it gives me chills....I think every boy should have the opportunity to go Scouting....I still have all of my uniform...A little tight now....:)

Back when I was in the Scouts we used that other style of hat in the picture.

Those were cool...My dad was in the scouts in the 1950's and he said, "We didn't need all of this "Official BSA" camping gear.." He said minus the Garand and the Steel Pot helmets they looked like a group of 12 year old WW 2 vets going camping...He said a few of his friends used Hitler Youth Knives as their Scout knives that their Dad's brought back from the War......He said the Government supplied all of their camping gear, belts, canteens, tents, etc...from surplus....

Glocks also have probably the best accessory market of any handgun. Any new holster will be available for glocks, any new ammunition will be tested in glocks, any new fun colored barrel will be glock, and when the zombies come out glocks will be the pick up pistol. The new poly strikers have a lot of ground to make up, holster and magazine availability is huge. A few guys are going with "glock compatible sight mounting" because every style of pistol sight imaginable is available for a glock. I've shot beretta m9's in the air force that were complete poopy from years of mishandling, I own a glock 22 gen 3 leo trade in that I can only imagine saw years of mistreatment that runs like an ugly sewing machine. In fact it runs as good as my nicer glock 22 gen 3. Glocks are a great value, regardless of manufacture cost, new. They hold their value because they are rock solid, simple, and reliable. I don't understand the sig fascination, I've owned a few 229's a 226 a 220 and 1911 I felt they were run of the mill pistols at best. The 1911 was nice and I would probably buy another one if the right deal came around. The p series are heavy, mediocre triggers, bulky, and quite ugly metal or not they are not pretty handguns. I don't think glocks are the end all be all, but they are great firearms. They are robust enough that people don't hesitate to buy used. Supply and demand means that prices will stay closer to new than other pistols.

In all seriousness, I don't love any of my Glocks but they shoot straight and every time I pull the trigger, it goes bang. I can't say the same about my Sig. If it were up to me, I'd carry an M9 daily but we gotta do what we gotta do.

I think Glock gets a bad rap from the fanboys but I also think that's what keeps the price higher.

There are guns that come in the shop that I know are only going to last a couple of days...

    M1 Garands
    M1 Carbines
K Frame Smith and Wesson Revolvers
    Single shot .410's

And Glocks in 9mm (40's take a a couple of weeks)

If you get a 23 in good condition in please feel free to pm me, it won't take weeks for it to move :D

Can you explain this to me? I've been trying to find one for my youngest son and it's nearly impossible.

22's are everywhere the 23's are tough to find right now, I just don't think glock is flooding the market with them right now like they are the 9mm offerings. 40 is pretty unpopular but I'm really starting to like it for a non volume defense round. Volume guns I will stick with 9mm because of the lower cost of pulling the trigger.

In a nutshell??? Men outgrow their .410's by age 15 and then after age 50 nostalgia sets in and they remember taking their first squirrel with one and they try to recapture the joy they felt when young stomping through the woods....

    (You can..Believe me....)

"Hey man with all of the fancy SxS and O/U's you got why do you stomp around the woods with that old Winchester model 37 .410??? Hell that's a kid's gun."

    "Exactly..."

I always have a snake charmer single shot .410 up at the farm...Last year I shot Buckeye's out of our tree with it....

Fun and nostalgia moves guns faster than the whims of politicians.....

I was asking about the 410 but I do agree with you about the G22. I bought 2 more from Recoil and I'm stashing them away because for $300 each, they're worth double that in usable parts.

Well, when you buy a run of the mill 1911 that is exactly what you get.....:):

I am not sure why S&W keeps the SD9 VE in their catalog? Seems like the Generic Beer of firearms.

As long as Ruger makes the Security 9 or Kel-Tec makes....anything, I don’t either. However, they seem to sell more than a few who want a gun around, probably aren’t “enthusiasts” and recognize the brand name. It’s basically a decent pistol for the money though.

Anyhoo, Glocks suck. They’re too expensive and there are several I wouldn’t mind owning.

At least the SD9 VE is a couple of steps up in quality and reliability, over Kel-Tec, SCYY, and Hi-Point pistols. i would rate it equal to the budget Ruger's, but uglier.
