Nothing like that here. It was my next-door neighbor that bought it, so I would have heard about any issues. When I was a buyer, they just give you a funny look when you say $1. :):

I've got rid of two vehicles recently. Called Pull-a-part, they came out, picked up both on flatbeds, and gave me $325 for one, $350 for the other.

There are a lot of nonrunning cars sold on the Facebook Cars for Sale page in our area. We just drug my son's car to the junk yard today and got $365 for it...minus the new battery, new alternator, radiator and all four wheels/tires that we stripped off of it.

I called a guy that had an ad in the paper that said he bought junk cars, he came out with a wrecker that day, I gave him the title and he have me $400. It was a 96 Grand Prix that had more stupid crap broke than it had good parts!

Sell it to a salvager. That's what I did with my old 4-Runner when it up and died. Only got about $250 for it, but it was out of my hair. There's one out towards Hamilton Town Center on....146th, I think. You might also call a local garage for a recommendation on one. Most of them have one they deal with to get rid of dead vehicles.

Yeah, I was going to ask just what was wrong with it. My son's going to need something, he hates the chicken, and I'm not buying him a Viper.

Throw it up on craigslist for $500 and see what you get.

I've bought/sold several "junk" cars like that. In fact I recently sold a Civic with a blown head gasket and 300k miles for $500. I've also bought cars and motorcycles with destroyed engines to part out for money, or for repair and flip depending on condition of the rest of the vehicle.

Whats wrong with it? I'm interested

Where is it located?? Might make something for my kid to fix and drive....

Yeah, I was going to ask just what was wrong with it. My son's going to need something, he hates the chicken, and I'm not buying him a Viper.

I don't know. It over-heated to the point where the radiator blew. My mechanic replaced the radiator and called it good, and then on the way home it over-heated again (didn't blow the radiator this time). He thinks it needs a head job, but I didn't want to spend the money to find out. He estimated about $1200 to fix it (estimate prior to actually tearing it down to find the problem). I think the car was worth around $2,000 without the issue. In all other respects, the car has been just fine. In the end, buying a new car was a better choice for me. Not trying to turn this into a classified ad, but if you're actually interested, you can PM me to discuss it. You'll have to arrange to pick it up in Noblesville with a truck, though, as it's not drivable right now.

don't you have to have enough $$/% in deductions to itemize your taxes for the deduction? If you don't know, unless your on the border the donation route might not get you anything.

As a homeowner, I pretty much have to itemize. The problem with a tax break is that it doesn't equate to dollars in your pocket. It just lowers your taxable income for the year, which slightly lowers your owed tax.

yeah I remember those days. Unfortunately (well, fortunately really) for me, Im in the last 2 years of my home loan and don't have enough mortgage interest anymore to itemize. so it would have to be a hell of a deduction for it to be worth it to me.

Several scrapers around the city will come pout cash in hand and snatch it up. Call one of them. Heck of a lot less hassle than CL or similar sites. One call and it is gone. My son works for a towing service that also has a parts and scraping yard. They get these all the time.
