Wife tells me I can't buy any more firearms until I give her an inventory of what I own now. Info on what should be included would be appreciated. Perhaps I should point out she paid for our gun safe and its installation, over $1400.

Id say keep it short and simple. For example I have 10 handguns, 3 rifles, and 6 shotguns. If you start going into deep detail of make, model, and what its worth she might kill you for spending so much on firearms.lol

This is what my inventory sheet looks like:

Item Manufacturer Model Serial Number Caliber Purchased Price Comments His/hers

    Rifle Remington 521 ********** .22LR 01/01/01 $295 Wood stock Hers

But I've gotta ask... is she a democrat?

Organize by use--carry (OC vs CC (light cover vs deep) and maybe even seasonal (do you wear a full size pistol when in shorts?)), home defense, putting food on the table, defense from overzealous governmental types...

See, my wife isn't into the whole shoe/handbag thing, and knows each gun that we have and how much was spent. Mostly because she's ok'd each purchase, but that's another story for another thread. This has, however, got me thinking about setting up a spreadsheet for inventory purposes. Do many people keep a sheet with their guns info, ammo counts and such? Be nice to have a sheet on the computer so I can know how much ammo I have in a certain caliber without having to go open the safe.

My wife could care less about how many and what. She is not deeply involved but knows we (me and the kids) are.
She is appreciative of the fat I have thinned the herd down to 2 safes. She likes the room.

Yea my wife is the same way. She could care less what I have. And she roughly knows how much all of them cost me. We split all the bills and other expenses 50/50. I make $10,000+ more a year then her so that gives me a lot of gun money.

My wife isn't into the shoe and handbag thing either. Although she does own more shoes the I do and I do not give her grief about it. The last purse she bought was a concealed carry purse even though she does not carry a gun. We figured 1) the purse would be sturdier and able to carry more stuff and 2) the built in holster might come in handy.

I don't keep a list of guns on the computer. I don't own that many guns and I can remember them all. I do go through and write down the models and serial numbers a couple times a year and stash the list. Do this in case of fire or theft. Ammo I don't worry about. I see it sitting in the little cabinet in the garage. With all the changes in temperature I think I will divide it by cartridge and put it in some plastic ammo cans with a dissecant pack instead.

Somebody mentioned not being married. Other then the grief guys write in internet chat rooms being married is not that bad. Yes I have to ask if I want to buy something because it is OUR money. Some of my divorced friends get mad when I ask my wife for permission to do things.
