Ive never shot a competition....would you start with this one? Its close to home for me.

Classifier matches are generally for members trying to improve classification or new members trying to become classified.

That being said, I'm sure you can shoot it just for fun. Very little movement, if any at all, and a great introduction to familiarizing yourself with range commands. It is not a great barometer to USPSA matches in general. There is generally only one classifier per match. Most other courses of fire are 32 rounds with movement.

This might be a good intro to USPSA for you. I say that for a few reasons.
    - If you are new to competition shooting ACC is a great place with great people.
    - This classifier match will require less mags and mag holders if those are things you don't have. (stages are smaller, at most they will require 1 reload) You will still see people with a full load out of 4-6 mags on their belt but 2 on the belt would get you by here.
    - Little movement and few reloads.

But, if this makes you a little nervous ACC has steel challenge the 3rd Saturday every month. Steel is a great place to get your feet wet. Marion County Fish and Game has Friday Night Steel, but if you are close to ACC, MCFG is a bit of a drive.

Can anyone join even if not a member or join without the classifier? Thanks.

If you are not a member there is still time to sign up with USPSA and have these classifiers count for you. But, no, you don't have to be a member of USPSA.

Aight thanks. I'm not even near enough where I'll be on the classifier, skill wise. I'll shoot for practice.

If you shoot this match you will be able to take your score and plug it into a classifier calculator and it will tell you what you would be for that stage. If you wanted to get an idea of how you would be classified, but honestly it's only 40 to join I believe. If you think you will shoot often, do it.

^I'm planning on shooting every month this year. Got a good advice that the only way to practice is to keep participating in these events. (You know who you are ;).)

I might join next year but this year's plans is just to get better.

Awesome man. If you want to be proficient with a handgun, join and shoot USPSA.

The more you practice the better you'll get.
