I rode down to Madison a couple months ago. I ate at a place called mumbles, and it was the worst, I wont even call it bbq. There is another place in Richmond called firhouse bbq and blues. Great setting, good music, but the pulled pork lacked some flavor. The menu was small and simple, this place has the potential to be great.

Moorseville and Indy have a good one. Squealers. I have to admit I Normally try to go for the lunch there. I like the squealer favorite.

At 30 and college in Indy there is one that is still old school. I do not know the name. Still use newspaper to wrap and the chicken is great.

BBQ is a broad area. Sandwitches are one thing ribs for beef and pork, BBQ chicken. Most places that have a rep make something good to eat. I might be asking them what they sell the most of.

Do be afraid to check out the ones in neighborhoods that you normally do not go into. These still have the old school ones.

I have yet to try it, but I have heard amazing things about short stop bbq in Bloomington. They only setup Thursdays and I am always at work when they are open

This topic was just covered in depth, so for a bunch of recommendations try the search function; but my answer then and now is I don't know that it's the best, but the best I've had is Big Shoes in Terre Haute.

I don't know if I'd write it off as the BEST BBQ in the state...

But if you come across a City BBQ (it's a food chain restaurant)...
It's AMAZING. :rockwoot: And their Corn Pudding is to die for! :rockwoot:!

Rick's Smokehouse in Terre Haute...some of the better BBQ I've had in the country, and I've enjoyed just a little BBQ from all the major spots in this great nation of ours.

    Where at in Gtown?

They also go by B3Q. It was Bowman's when they first opened, but I think they changed the name to B3Q now. Their shop used be right off highway 4 right across from the drive-in Movie Theater. According to their site though, they have moved just a little bit. Still in Georgetown though. I have not been to this new location.

    Here is their website

Man I keep hearing Squealers, Squealers, Squealers in these "favorite" threads!

They'll do in a pinch but if anybody thinks that Squealers is the top of the bbq food chain. . . .well you just haven't had good bbq.

Next time you're traveling down thru Joplin, Springfield, Tulsa, OKC etc. look up a place called Billie Sims. He was a big OU football star in the 70's but don't hold that against him. Try the Heisman, damn now I'm getting hungry. Home | Billy Sims BBQ

I don't know about the state, but me and a buddy every couple months will drive down to Richmond, Kentucky to eat at Sonnys BBQ. We generally will take a day to drive down there, eat and hit Buds Guns in Lexington just to get outta Indiana.

A new joint just opened up in New Albany, if you are down in southern Indiana. Its called Feast BBQ and I was pretty impressed when I ate there about a week ago!
