If you were at a playground, and one of the dads there had a 40 caliber 1911 w/ top rail and red dot sight in a Ghost Holster at a 45 degree forward cant,

Would you make an issue out of it "pointing" at the kids EVEN THO IT WAS IN the holster?

At the very MOST, it might have muzzled the kids lower 50% of their body once or twice, and while he was up on the walkway, but there was a lot of steel and bars etc between him and the kids.

I just wonder how INGO feels about this.

Um... I would have issue with someone wearing a holster like that, in public, with a red dot on top of it, however, not for your stated reasons..

Also.. a 1911 in .40? Oh the humanity!

No, as long as it's not being handled I wouldn't consider it an issue.

5-year old girl magnet, sure, but not a safety concern for others.

I would probly point at him and laugh but I wouldn't make a big issue out of it.

Is that holster safe for anything other than competition?

If its safe for running around a gun range, shooting and holstering as fast as you can, should it not be safe for a playground?

I feel like this guys 2A rights have been trampled.

Is there really that much difference between a Ghost and a Fobus?

I see a lot of OC in a Fobus, and I would argue that the ghost holds the pistol more securely.

And.. its the pinnacle of comfort. No gun contact at all.

Yes Sir, a 1911 in .40, a red dot and that holster? Geez louise, I am outraged. Worse than wearing white before Labor Day as my better half might say.

I can't help but think Jeff Cooper is dry heaving in Heaven right now.

I am mostly worried that some of the young kids would see that rig and think that is how a 1911 and rig should be.:D

I'd say no worries! My kids don't play on the playground, they are at the range!
Seriously though, there are more dangerous things than a holstered weapon (on safe?) on a playground. Try watching cars as they drive by you and count how many 16 year old girls are texting and chatting while driving. That is who is going to kill my kids one day.

    Safe? No. Legal? Yes.

When did you switch to .40?

I'd only have a problem with the 1911 in .40. But I'm an originalist too, so that's not saying much.

It's before Memorial Day and after Labor Day that you don't wear white. ;)

It isn't just 16 year old girls. People of all ages can't seem to drive any more without playing with their phone.
