This poll is a continuation of the above thread. Rambone suggested that i create a poll about the experience that individuals have had with living in a "Police State". The Poll is simple and has four choices:

1: USA: Federal, chose this option if you have experienced a Police State at the federal level
2: USA: State/Local, chose this option if you have experienced a Police State at the state or local level but NOT the federal level
3: Other, chose this option is you have experienced a Police State in some foreign country
4: TACOS!, chose this option if you have never lived in a Police State

If possible, please use anecdotal examples of the treatment you have suffered under said Police State.

I meant to vote 1,2,3 but only hit 1,2

we are heading towards a police state. its worse in some parts of the country than others. if people cant see it they are blind or dont even know what the definition of a police state is.

and also, I like tacos as long as they are made by a LEGAL mexican resident. i like another type of taco too.

Random bag searches conducted by police in my county, as well as in the counties of the city of New York. Repeatedly getting pulled over because I have a common Hispanic name, especially when out on my motorcycle and the officer always says " I needed to make you remove your helmet." Why I have no idea. I'm sure I could think of more, but those rise right to the top of my mind.

    I like the choice.
"I've never experienced the Police State."

    Oh wait..........
    That's not a choice.
    Well......
    That's certainly fair and balanced!

You have to read his explanation. TACOS means you have never experience the police state. That is what I checked. I have never personally interacted directly with the state. Indirectly I am not always real happy (tax time).

Thanks Expat for clearing that up.:D

I was afraid for a minute there that this would be a rigged poll.

How is one defining a Police State?

Is it this: "The term police state describes a state in which the government exercises rigid and repressive controls over the social, economic and political life of the population." Police state - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have lived in D.C., Boston, and Chicago and while I have experienced corrupt police (shake downs, planted evidence, baiting, inter alia) I don't think anything in the States reaches the definition of a police state.:dunno:

Just average experiences with the Police State

Good poll. We can see how many people are asleep or not.

I've experienced the American Police State. A pretty average experience too.

I've had my car searched during a measly traffic stop. I've been disarmed by police without cause. I've been through government checkpoints. I've been violated at the airport and made to take articles of my clothes off before being touched by government agents.

My old government-run high school had around 100 cameras on the premises and occasionally would have police canines come through the halls searching people. Citizens were told to submit body fluids to them for "random" drug testing.

Then there are Federal DNR officers who freely enter my land. And when I ride the South Shore train, the aisles are now patrolled by cops with German Shepherds. I've seen roadside beverage checkpoints set up in my town.

And I haven't even begun to list the oppressive laws that I am directly responsible for obeying. Or mentioned the propaganda that I have to hear broadcast over the airwaves.

But all this stuff is a normal part of growing up in today's America. Slave training I call it. You can pretend things are fine because the tyranny is not in full bloom. But this crap is not acceptable and not constitutional. And it is getting worse.

I lived in the Truckee, California area for a year (Y2K bug-out)... got to know the Sheriff and a few of the Deputies on a first-name basis... never had a problem that they were not on my side.

    +1 to what Expat said.

I think what he means is we have it better here than in other parts of the world so suck it up and deal with this "small" amount of corruption.

    :yesway:

If someone has spent any time in a real police state, you won't be confused that the US is one of them.

Am I happy with the path we are on... NO! Do I think we have lost some rights and freedoms ... YES! Is this Syria... come on.

I don't think we are living in Syria either. Our government is more powerful and sophisticated. Its like the boiling frog analogy. Instead of shooting us in the streets, they slowly destroy our rights, currency, economy, & liberties in a gradual process. Eventually we will all be dependent on them or work for them. The gradual Communizing of America. Everything that is not banned will be mandatory. All this is happening while we are drilled with the notion that "this is what freedom is supposed to look like."

When you watch the heavy-handed actions of the Feds there should be no question of what we are becoming. They steal milk from the Amish for crying out loud. They search baby's diapers for bombs. Its blatant.

well i have seen other "police states" , and your right, we arent syria, but come on, we arent as crazy as the people there either. maybe we will be soon if we keep letting them into our country but thats another thread.

We are heading towards becoming a police state. no I dont think we are fully there yet but things do exist here that shouldnt. we must stop it now. if that means we need to make people pannic to get them angered and involved then so be it. if we lived in the 1700's we would be calling Rambone , Ben Franklin.
