Kimber America | Solo 9 mm Pistols
These are barely available, but IMHO They are amazing.

There is a comparison to every small gun you can think of at the site below.

Comparison Charts: Kimber Solo vs. ...

Of course all of the reviews in the magazines have been just dazzling.
But, after looking at the size of this thing...
    WOW
    It is small.
It is smaller in size than a PF9 or LC9 and just slightly larger than a Rohrbaugh R9 or LCP.
    Ambidextrous 1911 style safety.
    6 in the magazine.
    An extended magazine is available.
3 dot sights that you can actually see.

    What is not to like?

Except for the $750 suggested retail price...

I'm currently considering this vs. LC9 vs CM9. The ONLY thing I can see that I question - is arguably it's most touted FEATURE. The Ambi safety. That gives it a wider, bumpier profile than I'd like. But hey, I'm not a lefty.

    Oh, and the price...

I think the solo is a beautiful gun, and the ambi safety is a plus since Im left handed. I dont like the fact that you have to use 124gr. ammo-I understand the reasoning, but as a defensive carry pistol it should be able to shoot everything. Now Ive seen the YouTube vid. of the guy shooting 115gr. with no issues....

but...thats not the case across the board. I think the jury is still out, there are alot of mixed reviews, and being the 1st gen. Im more inclined to wait til all the bugs have been worked out!

It's cute, but I'm afraid I'd take a Glock 26 over that all day and twice on Sunday. And I'm NOT a Glock guy (cough1911cough). If I had the need to find a cute little toy gun for those times I couldn't take a real gun along, it wouldn't be this one.

Ditto on this. I was very intrigued when I saw the first information, but I'm not too impressed by the ammunition limitations. I hope this turns out to not be the case. I want to put a lot of practice rounds through any subcompact I end up with, and for the price Kimber is asking I'd like it to be able to use any standard weight and commercial brand I choose.

I look forward to finally seeing one in store. I am also a lefty, so I too like the ambi-safety.

It looks so nice I wouldn't want to shoot it. I'd be more inclined to put it in a nice box and put it on display.

Which is the sole reason I wont be getting one. I need function over beauty. Not to say that it wouldn't shoot great. The price is just too stiff for me, especially when there are other cheaper options.

If the ambidextrous safety can be swapped for RH only, I'm sold.

Think I must have been on kimbers site when they first put it up because I read about and became interested in this gun a while back, long before all the gun forums started talking. After I saw it I went to the local gun shop n asked about it and was told it was just a shot show prototype and couldn't order one.

Once I find out if the safety is easily swapped for single sided or preferably eliminated ill be heading back in to place my order

There've been some rather unfavorable reviews of the Solo over on GT. Big issue is that they're rather finicky on ammo. Guess no 115gr ammo is recommended at all, be it HP or FMJ.

The Solo's inability (per Kimber - I'll wait to see if practical experience proves otherwise) to shoot affordable ammo is a deal-breaker for me. While I don't neccessarily require that my defensive weapon be able to fire all 9mm rounds in case the SHTF, I do like to actually shoot all of my guns. I ran 200 rounds of Critical Defense through my PM9 when I got it, and periodically run a box through it But in the past year I've also probably run another 300 rounds of regular vanilla Sellier & WWB through it without a single problem, and have enjoyed every minute. I really don't mind spending money on nice pistols, just as I don't mind spending money on a nice car. But I have an aversion to high-strung cars that require as much time and money to run and maintain as they do to buy. Same with my guns.

Cannot wait on your experience, as a retailer, as to how well the guns work for the buyers.

Held it............I'll pass. I'd need a double extended magazine for it to fit my hand. Whats the point?

It is a looker though I will admit. :twocents:

Looked awesome until I saw the weight.

For something getting into the pocket gun market, 17 ounces empty is a lot of weight.
It is an attractive pistol, it just seems awfully niche to me.

As far as making it run cheap ammo, geesh guys, it's just a recoil spring change away. Not like a spring is a deal breaker for a decent gun.
