My search for different models and flavors of 1944 Mosin Nagant's led me to these two DDR /1\ stamped 1944 Izhevsk Carbines

The M38 has very odd looking rear screwed in eschions and front 1/2 liners

The M44 has a bayo cut out that looks like it was a M38 stock modified for an M44

Thanks everyone, you know me, always on the lookout for cool Mosin's, and if they are 1944's its that much better.

I wish I would have known. I sold an excellent condition double dated, mo stamped, m44 in the shop. It was the only mo stamped m44 I had ever seen (but I know there are a few out there). It was a consignment gun and sold for $320 to a collector in KY who drove 200 miles round trip to get it. If you ever make it down to the river stop in. I usually have a few funky mosins around.

    DDR marked m44

    Nice pair! :yesway:
I have a 1945 Ishy with DDR marking, the mark is somewhat faint, but is there. Mine is all matching with a forced match on the magazine plate (old number struck and newly re-struck match, not electro-pencil) in a laminate stock. I can relate to the gun safe growth problem too! I display my M44 collection in a nice oak 10-gun stand made by L. Buecher (spl).

Yep those MO's are hard to come by, took me a while to find mine, both 44 Izhevsk's, an M44, & an M38. [STRIKE]I think I posted them on here recently.[/STRIKE] Looks like I never posted these, well I'll have to rectify that.......:D

I was looking at my mosins just today[a 91/30 and a shorty] Short rifle is dated 1944-why is this special?

1944 is the only year that both Tula and I zhevsk arsenals both produced 91/30's, M38's M44's and PU snipers. Tula only produced the M44 in 1944 & is one of only 2 years it made M38's.

I have a nice 91/30 hex I picked up at Bradis, and a nice 91/59 carbine I picked up from an INGO member. I put small Limb Saver slip on recoil pads on them and the whole family shoots them.
