You can be sure that those with an agenda, i.e. the Democratic leaders and the liberal news media, will ignore the facts.

Thanks for the stats. However . . .

Frankly, I prefer to talk about "violent crimes". Why?

Scoping the discussion to only "gun" crimes is one of the tactics of the left to make them appear larger than they are. It also allows them to say things like the "gun" crime rate in the UK is so much lower than in the U.S. - EVEN THOUGH the violent crime rate in the UK is FOUR TIMES as high as the U.S. and it is the most violent country in Europe (same thing for Aus.).

It matters not to the victim whether he's killed with a gun, knife, rope, fist, etc. Dead is dead. Violence is violence. The tools are irrelevant.

Just wanted to point that out.

What is the difference between homicides and murders?
Murder is associated with premeditation. Homicide includes things like killing in the act of self-defense, motor vehicle deaths in certain circumstances (while drunk for instance), medical mistakes, etc.

    Here's another:

The most violent country in Europe: Britain is also worse than South Africa and U.S. | Mail Online

And these are both UK sources.

So, scoping things to simply "gun" crimes is artificial and plays to the gun control assumptions that "guns are bad" and "guns are the problem."

Don't let them dictate the terms and/or language of the debate. Don't play their game.
Thanks for posting that link. It seems the gist of the left's argument is that although new gun control won't stop all of these kinds of tragedies, they feel as though have to do something. When an assault weapons ban doesn't work, they will keep tearing down the second amendment until it is either abolished or just words on a piece of paper.

There's just about zero correlation between guns per capita and murders, and violent crime. I'll try to post some numbers after the holidays.

    Sure, we should DO something.

We could get rid of so-called "gun free" zones (which are nothing more than victim zones).
We could allow lawfully licensed carry in schools.
We could mandate full faith and credit amongst the various states for handgun carry licenses.
    Etc.

These are things that can actually be shown to reduce violent crime and the impact of tragedies like we saw in Sandy Hook.

The problem here is that political correctness and emotion have to be overcome with facts and reason to arrive at truly effective solutions; not so-called "solutions" that will simply make "the problem" - worse.
