I ask in a different thread what was the best selling ammunition for handguns, rifles and shotguns.

This will be for rifles only because I ran out of options so I tried to get the most popular I could think of included.

Vote for any that are listed as many as you have.
It will not show who voted so it is a anonymous poll.

If there is a caliber I should change that might be more popular let me know and if it allows me to I'll change it.

I'm going to assume 12ga is the most popular for shotgun.
So I took the poll but did not see .270 listed. Was that intentional or just a misprint?Lol, I grew up reading outdoor life and Jack O’Connell was a huge advocate for the round and I’ll admit it is wildly versatile but I think every round has purpose just like every shot does. If it goes bang you have my attention. I love watching the YouTube ..270 vs 6.5 creedmore. My nephew bought a 6.5 a couple of years ago and said it would should a 1000 yards. I told him it would but, can you? I can’t because I need the right equipment and training. He had the deer in the headlights look.

Did you look at poll #2?
Can only put 10 options per poll.

7.62x39mm has move from 5th to 4th, and 243 Winchester has caught up with 7.62x54R.

Not much changed for the top 5
7.62x54R actually jumped up to 8th over 6.5 Creedmoor.
I didn't put an expiration on the polls just in case things change over the next year or two.
I think we have a good idea what we need to have on hand in Indiana.
A rifle in each of the top 5 calibers of this poll if civilization fails would find you better off then most of these other calibers.

    .
Wouldn't that be a handgun caliber like the 45 Colt?

44-40 starts out as a Winchester cartridge for the then new 1873 Rifle, later on Colt adds it to the calibers chambered in the SAA and other handgun companies follow along. Winchester adds 38-40 and 32-20 along the way. They made an enormous amount of 1873 rifles, giving it the name of the gun that won the west. The 44-40 was by far the most popular of the calibers sold, and like the 45-70, which was an army cartridge, earned it's place in history.

45-70 is getting close to 243 Winchester. It's within 3 votes of a tie.

I’m about as generic as they get when it comes to rifle rounds. I just need 22lr and .223/5.56. But I do enjoy having 308 around for “just in case”.

Voted. 7.62x39 should definitely be on the list since it's around the 4th to 5th-ish most popular rifle cartridge based on Internet searches and past sales revenue. 30-06, as old as it is, is still somewhere in the top 10 also. 300 Win Mag and 45-70 should prob be on the list as well, while 6.5 Grendel, and 450 Bushmaster are down in the weeds.
    7.62x39, you say, comrade.
