What division could I shoot a Taurus 627 in?

The barrel is factory ported. Reading the approved production gun list, it says under Taurus any DA/SA revolver with a barrel less than 8 1/2".

But Appendix D4 says barrel ports not allowed.

Which is controlling, and if I can't shoot production, what division could I shoot it in?

I think you could only shoot it in open division.

IIRC, barrel ports are only allowed in Open, regardless of who installed them.

Yes, open. Ports on a pistol = Open division.

Would that kill his times against other open shooters? I guess it dosen't matter if you were just going against your own time but isn't open a pretty fast class?

Yes and Yes.

Most Open division shooters are shooting 2011 based autos with 28+ rd magazines and some type of a dot sight (e.g. C-More).

However, I would not let that influence me if I had a 627 and really wanted to shoot it in a match. Bring it, play safe, and have fun.

I wasn't trying to discourage him. I was curious for myself. i know I will be shooting what i bring this summer not matter what class it puts me in.
