Shouldn't they be doing this already?
    • Directing every U.S. Attorney’s Office nationwide to increase resources dedicated to district-specific violent crime strategies
Shouldn't they be doing this already?
    • Cracking down on illegal firearms trafficking “by adding personnel and other resources to strengthen the Justice Department’s multijurisdictional task forces that target interstate firearms trafficking.”

Solution in search of a problem. Ghost guns sounds scary, literally, ghosts are scary. It's the new "gun show loophole"
    • Launching a National Ghost Gun Enforcement Initiative, which aims to train prosecutors nationwide and provide information and tools “to help bring cases against those who use ghost guns to commit crimes.”
Translation: it's easier to go after lawful people selling/trading guns than to go after criminal gangs.
    • Pursuing unlawful gun sellers “that put firearms in the wrong hands” by “prioritizing federal prosecutions of those who criminally sell or transfer firearms that are used in violent crimes, including unlicensed dealers who sell guns to criminals without the required background checks.”

If they want private sellers to conduct background checks, then make the NICS system available to the public and no cost. Of course they won't do that. (And I don't want to be in the business of conducting background checks, for the record.)

Sounds like he is directing various agencies to follow the law. Nothing new. But, he gets points for doing so in a public statement.
As long as these agencies don't start redefining what it meant by the laws that they are supposed to be enforcing, we are holding on.

I'm afraid that this is a signal to these agencies to implement a zero tolerance policy.

Oh,Oh, oh...... a new definition: Private seller - 1) a person who sells firearms without a federal license. 2) an unlicensed firearms dealer.

How about something like this ^^^

Or does that have disproportional effect on specific groups?

I thought we wanted to defund the police. Now we want to give them more money?
Biden also said in the statement that “stronger law enforcement is critical in stopping gun crime.” The president urged Congress to approve additional funding that would “more than double the size of the Department of Justice’s COPS community policing grant program.”

Nah. This is what it should be.

I think what he is referring to is the people selling guns out of their trunks to gangs and such.

What he would like is to end private sales.

What is the required background check for selling a gun to a criminal? Is there a special criminal check to make sure they are bad enough to qualify? :dunno:

[sarcasm font for those who don't know purple is sarcasm] Whenever I trade a duffel bag full of assorted handguns for a kilo of cocaine, I always insist on an ATF 4473 being filled out. If it comes back proceed, I don't want to enter a criminal arrangement with you. [sarcasm font for those who don't know purple is sarcasm]
