Does anyone drive for Uber? I'm kicking around the idea of driving for them part time.

    Is it worth it?

Are there any lessons learned after starting to drive for them? In other words any realizations like, if I knew then what I know now.......

Did it for awhile. Not bad. You'll meet many interesting people. But it is convenient to work your own schedule. Keep track of your mileage and auto expenses and such for your taxes. Also a camera that records audio also is good. Just in case you need to verify your side of the story if something went south.

    Good idea!

Any suggestions on an in-facing camera with a huge drive and DC power?

I would check what your insurance coverage is when driving for hire.
    • Who pays if you hit someone's car?
    • Who pays if you hit and injure a person?
    • Who pays if an uninsured driver hits you?
I have heard that some carriers will drop coverage if they are not told ahead of time that you are driving as employment. they consider what you are doing as commercial and may want you to carrier commercial coverage.

I would try a Google search. I didn't have a setup. I heard that an old cellphone would work. I'm not sure about storage though.

My Car Policy excludes any For Hire operation, but they will add a Rider on the Policy. You might look into a Blanket Liability Policy, we have a Million Dollar, not to costly. I have a Friend in Raleigh NC that has Driven for Uber for 7 or 8 years now.

Thanks for the insurance input. One of my early calls was to my independent insurance agent to check on coverage. :D

Uber also offers insurance coverage for when you're driving for them.

Is there anyone driving for Uber that is interested in splitting the referral bonus for new drivers? DM the referral link if you are willing to do that. I'm going to give this a shot and see how it goes.

Now I need to check the classifieds for a cross draw holster.
