I mean not to upset anyone or to just go on a tangent, but this has been driving me insane for the last 24 hours. I was watching a major news network yesterday and they brought up a digital image of all the soldiers that have passed away this month in Afghanistan. It was kinda like a... "well let's make up for the last 2 1/2 weeks of soldiers that have passed in the last two weeks to get our good deed cookie."

We have been in Afghanistan for 8 years now and Iraq is coming up right behind. So, what is wrong with the majority of this country? You are always hearing "send more troops in, or bring em home." But yet, when it comes to the news, they care more about some stupid deranged family and their weather balloon stunt or a car wreck that happened 140 miles away from there home. Not saying they aren't important but why is this trivial, hot minute news story today that will be a joke in two weeks more important than soldiers dieing over seas?

I want this war to be over just like everyone else. So why doesn't the media put the image out there that it is still going on instead of just sliding in a graphic image of soldiers that have died in the last 2 1/2 weeks like a yearbook photo?

I say ALL news networks and broadcasts should start off every program with news of everything dealing with the war. If a soldier died that day, he/she is remembered and he/she get's a moment of silence. Any new breakthroughs on intelligence or front line issues or achievements should be first priority. Just to remind us that we are still having a war going on in two countries right now and that while most people are appalled by some 1 gene too short family and a balloon that there are people my age and older and younger dieing for a war they aren't even sure what it is over.

I am tired of the media acting like this war is just old news and that it's not as important as some family in Colorado. I have lost family and friends to this war and I am tired of seeing other soldiers being put into a graphic image for 5 seconds like a yearbook page of the ones that have passed away. It should be the opening story, not some time filler when they get to it two weeks down the road. I have lost too many friends and family members to this war to see them as just another time filler on a news broadcast. It should be the breaking story EVERY day!

Alright, since that is off my chest, I will have my coffee now. :patriot:

    :+1: Great post.

I think it's a shame that war coverage is practically nonexistent on day-to-day news as well. I've been saying this since the war became such a taboo to mainstream media that they hardly talk about it anymore.

Sound bites sell! That simple. People are no longer interested in detail, just what Britney had for breakfast. It's rather shameful of our society but it's kinda like the boss at work. As long as his phone isn't ringing he doesn't care what's going on around him, essentially if it doesn't concern him, it doesn't concern him! When I was a kid my dad was in Viet Nam in '69. I can remember every night Walter Cronkite having a running tally of the MIAs, KIAs, and wounded. I know I couldn't even hazard a guess at any of those numbers for the current conflict.

Ha, don't hold your breath. It's not politically correct to upset the people.

It is nothing more than dumming down the masses.

An informed group of people is a dangerous group of people.

Now, the White House is attacking FOX NEW'S for bringing information
out that would otherwise not be mentioned.
At least FOX is attempting to keep Washington's feet to the fire.

    The 30+ Czars,
    bailout of Wall Street,
    take over of G.M.,
    forced sale of Chrysler,
forced closure of thousands of car dealerships
Health Care Reform, (not reform, socialism)
continued blind eye to the border,
lack of leadership and support in Afghanistan,
the list goes on and on.

Man, what's going on in Washington is sounding more like a dictatorship every day,
and we just keep following it like the good sheep that we are.
