I ended up coming home with a brand new Mossberg 500 12G with a 28 in. Vent rib ported barrel with Accu-Choke, a nice light colored wood stock (walnut maybe?) and a brass colored trigger.... For $250! And it wasn't no private sale either, WALMART!! Lol

ik it's just a 500 but I felt like posting because its my first "new gun" I've purchased other than my 91-30 and SKS that I've bought.

Ill post a pic later (yes Ik they all are the same)
but the brass trigger is something I haven't seen or heard of, is this rare or normal for a 500 trigger?

bit fuzzy but it was taken on my iPhone

Yeah, I remember years ago some guy at a trap shoot giving me hell because my 500 was sloppy. His winchester pump was tight as a can be. "That quality workmanship is far better than the sloppy crap Mossberg puts out."

By the end of the day he had a total of 3 misfeeds. Ive now had less than that in the 20 years Ive owned mine.

Congrats on a workhorse. The only regrets you will have is you didnt spend the extra $$ on a Mossberg 930. :D

I went to gander mountain the next day and saw the same 500 on the shelf for $400, and a used 20 was more than the price of my new one! So far the only problems Ive had with it is that I went straight to the field with it without patterning it or figuring out the double bead, first shot was high, missed, second shot I hit the squirrel but peppered it, the main focus of the damage was right behind his head so I considered it good enough since hardly any shot went through the skin..
other than that I'm goin down to get a rifled barrel with a cantilever scope mount for 150

best part is no FTF which was the reason for buying it

Congrats for a fine investment! Have owned a plethora of shotguns, and the Mossberg 500s are a favorite. During the "Obama" scare of gun restrictions, I wanted to update my collection. Looked at LGS's and Cabelas, Bass Pro Shop, and saw the same shotgun at WallyMart. I paid the same as you, didn't wait more than 15 minutes to get the required Fed check, and they even carried it to the door! No complaints. I found a short barrel, new and original wrapper, on Ebay. Paid a whole $95.00, shipped to my front door, so now also have a Riot Version M500. Your stock is Birch wood. Again, you can easily find a different style on Amazon, or Ebay for decent prices. I see used ones go for $50-75, and sometimes they add the shipping. Good luck, and shoot straight!

OH YEAH!! Picked up a new Ruger 10/22 carbine with walnut stock for $235 at work!

but..... its on layaway right now till next payday. I didn't even plan on it, but we've had a stainless/synthetic one on the shelf for almost a month that for some reason noone wants but everytime we get a walnut one they sell quick, so it was more or less an impulse buy to reserve it as mine, even though I've been wanting a 10/22 for awhile now

Walking you to the door is like a security thing. When a new gun comes off the truck a manager must be present, the managers put the special trigger locks on em, and to bring em to the sales floor a manager carries or escorts the associate carrying it. Even though all these security measures could be bypassed.

Great score! It will serve you well. I to prefer the wood stock. Congrats on the score.

Owned a 500 for 20 years, the only time it has ever malfunctioned was one box of cheep shells I bought once.
they are the deal of the shotgun world.
