What a beautiful day to be out a the range!
Shot my first 223 reloads with great success.
Powder: CFE223
bullet: 55 gr. Horny FMJ w/CL.
Wolf SR primer
Mixed head stamp 223 brass non-military brass.
I loaded 3 rounds each with:
25.0 gr
25.5 gr
26.0 gr
26.5 gr
27.0 gr
All rounds cycled the action just fine in my AR-15 w/ 1:9 twist chrome molly barrel.
25.0 & 25.5gr were a little soft, but functioned.
26-27 were all good.
26.0 seemed to have slightly better accuracy.
No split necks, no case-head sepperation, no flattened primers... no pressure issues.
Just reloading for range/fun ammo so 26.0 will be fine. Not trying to break any accuracy records here.
CFE223 meters very well (ball powder) so I'll set my Dillon at 26.0 and GO!
Now all I have to do is find more CFE223...
