It's been a while since I've been on here, but wanted to plug a hunting lodge we used in November. Snake Den Lodge in Presho, SD did us right. 9 of us for 3 days and limited every day before 2 (legal shooting starts at 10). There's around 6K acres they have access to and each plot of standing corn or sorghum goes at least a week between each time it's worked. We had 2 great guides with excellent dogs.

This was the first time using a lodge and guide and we booked next years trip before we left.

All Labs ranging from from 11 months to 9 years (she only hunted one day). The youngsters worked individually with a couple of older dogs on each pass. They were great. Well trained and stayed close instead of ranging out far ahead. Zero lost birds.

Just a joy to hunt over

    Dogs make the bird hunt....

Hunters are simply along for the ride.

It surely is, but if the wind is ripping, there's no stopping it. The first day the highest gust was 72MPH. Day 2 it was "only" 46MPH. No wind on day 3 it took a half hour to stop leading them so much. On the first day they'd come up and then take off like a rocket downwind. It was a fun challenge.
