I recently saw a swedish mauser for sale the other day and was wondering if I could get some insight from you guys. The price is 350 which I think is about right mabey a bit high but oh well. I also know it is a very accurate rifle. that being said I was just wondering what your thoughts about them are, Thanks.

I have a 1904 Carl Gustav m96 and they are magnificant shooters. Are you talking the shorter carbines or long guns? The m96s are very long. $350 is actually an excellent price for one. Depending on the condition, you're looking at $350-$400 for one. The 6.5 swede round is a great, flat-trajectory round also. I might have to sell mine, which sucks hard b/c it is by far my fav non-US surplus rifle. The accuracy is very good too if the bore is in good shape and the crown isn't marred.

Wally pretty much summed it up. Excellent all the way around rifles/carbines. You cant go wrong with Swedes or Swiss. Here is my m96, it is the long version of there rifles. the shorter version are the m38's. (which model is yours?).

I'd love to get my hands on a carbine... don't worry, swiss, I kick myself for some of my sales too. :(

I'm going hunting this Fall/Winter with my friend in Pennsylvania and I think I'm going to take the Swede :)

It is a 1909 m96 that is all matching, W/threaded barrle and hooded front sight(hood is also a bit loose). I think If I can get the money together I will buy it.

    M96 Swede

I have a nice M96 dated 1925 and it shoots great. I handload 140 gr bullets at 2400 fps to simulate original velocities and it is a tack driver. Wonderful wormanship that meets or exceeds the german mausers. My old eyes have trouble with most military narrow V sights, so I put a set of Mo Jo ring in a ring sights on it. Easy to see and aim now. :)

It is hard to believe how much the prices went up on the Swedish Mausers...In 2001 I was buying them for $59.00 from S.O.G
