I shot a transferable MP5 a couple months and have been in love since then. I can't afford a transferable but I can cough up around $1500 for a semi-auto clone. Anyone had any experience with one?

I have a Coharie ca94fs. It's a fun gun and it runs great. Be careful what you get, a lot of the clones are known to have "issues".

    The clones I'm aware of

Special weapons, Bobcat, Coharie, (3 companies by the same guy, all out if business)

MKE (licensed by HK, made in Turkey, no longer imported)

    Vector Arms (5 year warranty)

    Atlantic Arms

POF (I hadn't heard of them until this thread)

I watched that video before, but they say the finish is bad and on Atlantic's website they say that they are pretty rough. I would hate to drop that much coin and get a crappy finish on it.

Sadly, "that much coin" isnt really the case when it comes to MP5 clones... those seem to be a lot better than the other ones in that price range... the really good ones with US parts are around 1800-2200, then really good ones with many hk parts will be even more (2500-3200). If i hadnt just got a hold of a USP Expert in 9mm i would have gotten one of the POFs. Love the MP5 platform, and that one (like MKE) is built with HK licensed tools.

I have a friend that had one of the SW carbines, and once he put all HK parts in it, it ran great. Prior to that, it jammed all the time. There were some Turkish imports that came into the U.S. in the past couple of years that have good reputations.

I think that is a little much considering it is a SW receiver. At that price you can get new builds from places like Atlantic firearms, or the pof plus more money towards a better finish and a mag or two.

You're right, I didn't notice this one before. AA 89K 9mm Pistol SP89 Type Atlantic Arms MFG

I prefer the "K" configuration over the POF style, but it sounds like the legion saiga and 37mm launcher might be coming up for sale to help fund it lol

Those AA's from Atlantic have been getting pretty good reviews. MKE is supposedly going to be importing their pistols again. I have one of their fullsize pistols that I SBR'd and I love it. If you can wait around for those, they are great guns. Made on HK tooling, they pretty much all run great. The enthusiasts will tell you that some of the welds don't look as good cosmetically as a real HK, but they'll run just as good.

You have to be careful with some of the domestic clones. They can sometimes need HK internals installed (extractors, bolt heads, carriers, fire control group parts) to run reliably and that can get expensive. If you can find one that you know runs well, they're good guns otherwise.

    Here's my MKE:
