Minister beaten after clashing with Muslims on his TV show

A Christian minister who has had heated arguments with Muslims on his TV Gospel show has been brutally attacked by three men who ripped off his cross and warned: ‘If you go back to the studio, we’ll break your legs.’
The Reverend Noble Samuel was driving to the studio when a car pulled over in front of him. A man got out and came over to ask him directions in Urdu.
Mr Samuel, based at Heston United Reformed Church, West London, said: ‘He put his hand into my window, which was half open, and grabbed my hair and opened the door.

He started slapping my face and punching my neck. He was trying to smash my head on the steering wheel.

Then he grabbed my cross and pulled it off and it fell on the floor. He was swearing. The other two men came from the car and took my laptop and Bible.’
The Metropolitan Police are treating it as a ‘faith hate’ assault and are hunting three Asian men.
In spite of the attack, Mr Samuel went ahead with his hour-long live Asian Gospel Show on the Venus satellite channel from studios in Wembley, North London. During the show the Muslim station owner Tahir Ali came on air to condemn the attack.
Pakistan-born Mr Samuel, 48, who was educated by Christian missionaries and moved to Britain 15 years ago, said that over the past few weeks he has received phone-in calls from people identifying themselves as Muslims who challenged his views.
‘They were having an argument with me,’ he said. ‘They were very aggressive in saying they did not agree with me. I said those are your views and these are my views.’
He said that he, his wife Louisa, 48, and his son Naveed, 19, now fear for their safety, and police have given them panic alarms. ‘I am frightened and depressed,’ he said. ‘My show is not confrontational.’


Oh I'm glad they gave them panic alarms. The police will at least know where to find their bodies.

Lars pointed out to me the other night when we were chatting over dinner that if a handful of ultra-conservative Christians were to blow up an abortion clinic, the local churches would stand up and denounce the behavior, even if they didn't agree with abortion either. He gave several other examples.

If the target of our malice (Islamic extremists) really are extremists and represent only 2-3% of the Muslim population, then the others of that Faith need to stand up and push back against it. I mentioned that there was an Islamic leader (in NY, I think) that did stand up and denounce the 9/11 attacks, but Lars countered that the group only stood up after 9/11. Why aren't they pushing back still every time Bin Laden throws out another video?

If the leaders of the Muslim community want to stop the profiling and really reiterate that Islam is a peaceful religion and that these terrorists only represent a small fraction of their followers, then the leaders of that community need to stand up and show us.

And the police that would chase them down and catch them would very likely be Christian, and the prosecutor that tries the case would very likely be Christian (as least nominally). And the jury that convicts would very likely be composed largely of Christians. And the person who slips in the needle would probably be Christian.

Because, you see, among Christians, the supporters of "terrorism" really are a "tiny minority" and the majority really don't accept that kind of behavior from said "tiny minority."

there comes a point where you have to ask yourself, is it really only a small percentage of the population? for every soldier on the front line, theres 4-5 in the rear- providing funding, refuge, safe travel and the like. so if 3 percent of muslims are terrorists, that puts up to 15% as active participants. and off of that 15% how many relatives know about what they do, but remain silent? i dont ever see an end to terrorism. even if every imam got out and denounced it publically, how many are professing jihad secretly? personally, i dont trust any muslims, and never will.

With all of the violence around the world being caused by this religion of peace and the lack of any other voice but the fanatic, it makes you wonder if those who claim to be moderate or peace loving are not actually rooting for the bad guys. I hope you remember the images of Muslims around the world dancing in the streets when we were attacked on 9/11. I just can't believe there is just a small percentage that wants to see us all with our throats slit open. Because no one else will stand up to them, we must.

And they have found many examples of this. Imams that talk in English about love and respect. Then the FBI gets tapes of them in Arabic calling us cows and supporting some extremist position. Look at the reaction of muslims through out the world after 9/11. All of them cheered and celebrated the terrorists (reports said this wasn't the case in Iran and that was the lone exception). Look at the snarky behavior of CAIR in this country. Funny how they raise funds for groups that always seem to have ties with Hezbollah or Hamas. I am not saying that every single Muslim is a terrorist or even supports terrorists. But until they start working with authorities to bring down terrorist groups and speaking out openly in the Mosques (in English and in Arabic) against radical groups, then they haven't earned any respect IMO.

Additionally, someone elsewhere (I think in the closed thread) made the comparison that someone who would defend his family and himself with violence is comparable to those who would initiate violence against America and her citizens. The two are not comparable at all- one is attacking, the other, defending. At a nation-state level, I could even consider a pre-emptive strike acceptable, if based upon rock-solid and indisputable evidence.

I was once, on PDO, called a "Left Liberal Democrat Socialist Fascist" because, given the scenario that I am walking down a street with my family and up ahead, I see a male person with olive skin (possibly wearing a turban), I would elect not to immediately present my pistol and kill that person-after all, they're all sworn to convert, enslave, or kill US, so we should, in that person's mind, do so first.

Needless to say, we did not reach an agreement of any type on this issue.

I will be looking forward to making your acquaintance at the statehouse on 3/25/09 at 11:30 am. I am not one to hold a grudge. And just so you understand that I do understand. Apparently the words you used were also in haste. I apologize for any words miss spoken on my part, however we do have a different view as to what constitutes a light insult. Lets go with that headline right there. Islam does prohibit the killing of innocent (Muslim) people. Non Muslims are kafirs (non believers) and not innocent. So it is a matter of saying what is true but implying something completely different. Americans see innocent people and think it includes them when it does not. If you have not read the Koran I recommend it. I would also suggest a book by Bridget Gabriel it is titled Because they Hate.

It's funny how THIS case is getting national press here in the States.

This kind of thing happens EVERY DAY in India. Every Single Day. The ONLY reason this is "news" here is because of the TV-show aspect.

Christians are robbed and beaten. Christian ministers' wives are raped and beaten and set on fire in front of their family's eyes. Their kids are kidnapped. The POLICE and MILITARY even do some of the persecution themselves.

John records Jesus as saying ""If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me before it hated you. If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. Because you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world-the world hates you."

And, just like in the accounts of the Early church we read from the pages of scripture, the Church in India is growing almost exponentially.

The Church grew exponentially, even during the height of persecution at the hands of the Romans; and so it continues today.

"Do not pray for easier lives. Pray to be stronger men."

On a side note, I can almost guarantee why the Church here in America (and in most of Western society) is dying.

like i said, its very easy to say one thing and do another. these people live and die on the words of their clerics. it just seems to me that if there really was a widespread outcry by muslim clergy against terrorism, it would end, or at least become less mainstream, like it is in the christian religions.
