The code enforcement nazis nabbed another one. A Minnesota man will spend a month in a cage because he didn't finish putting the siding on his house. He ran into money troubles and couldn't afford to finish the project. Thank goodness this criminal is off the streets.

Man Jailed Over Unfinished Siding Project
Faber, who pled guilty to the code violation, said he was unable to finish the siding job because of the economy. “It’s basically a stretch of bad luck that things haven’t been finished,” he said in court documents. “It was a remodel job where there’s a new roof, new windows, new doors, new everything; but with the economy being what it is, it’s just been very difficult; and being unemployed the last three summers, it’s been tough generating revenue; so it’s a matter of trying to get it done as quickly as possible.”
“I’m walking around in a green and white jump suit,” he told KSTP. “I had to shower in front of a sheriff. I was shackled, my wrists were handcuffed to my waist – for siding.”

He was arrested, and jailed, and cuffed because he failed to apear in court, same thing would happen if your a no show for traffic court (all because of a speeding ticket right?)

he was given 5 years to finish it and get w/in the ordinances the he is choosing to live under. the city gave him MULTIPLE warnings yet he continued to not get into compliance, clearly he was the innocent one here.

Oh wow... I was expecting some **** hole located smack dead in the middle of town square, next to a court building or something???

I watched the video and was shocked to see it was an immaculate 2 story upper class home located in a secluded area that no one can really see.... :dunno:

    This is absolutely ludicrous

So, after five years there was no due process?

The cops just drove up in their Hanomag and drove him to the concentration camp?

A Minnesota man will spend a month in a cage because he didn't finish putting the siding on his house.

He got 2 days in the county jug and then 28 days on Home Detention where I hope he finished his house.

He ran into money troubles and couldn't afford to finish the project.

Five years, he had five years and he did not do it. He was court ordered to fix up the crap shack.

They are court orders, not court suggestions.

Comply with the court order or be willing to explain yourself.

More demonstrable proof that your property isn't yours. EVERYTHING belongs to the government and if you aren't a good stewart of it, they'll slam your dick in a drawer.

Interesting he had money troubles for five years and then threw down $11K to get it done when the pressure was on.
I'd like to know the deatils of "the economy" defense. I didn't hear anything about loosing a job.

I think with 28 days to spend around the house with your new ankle bracelet, someone motivated would get it done.

I'm with you guys on this one. I think it's fantastic that we imprison people for not meeting my standards of attractiveness for their homes.

I would agree with this except that your neighbors are hurt when you let your property go to shambles, because it hurts property values. Can I move in next to you and fill my yard with rusted out cars and boats, let the weeds grow up several feet high, rip all the siding off my house so just the frame and insulation are showing, and generally make a mess of my property? Honestly, would you be okay with that or would you like legal remedies against me ruining your home's resale value?

I'm not in favor of putting someone in jail over ordinance violations like apparently Minnesota does, but at some point the city has to be able to enforce its laws. We have courts and legal proceedings for a reason, and as Kirk pointed out, court orders aren't mere suggestions.

If you're willing to go into debt, you can buy practically anything at the drop of a hat.

Yes, quite right, it's always best to make a civil matter a ciminal one istead.

People who build jails need to eat too.

    Free to live somewhere else.

A little salad tossing in prison may motivate him to finish his project then move to the country and be sure not live under a HOA as well.

Having lived next door to a person inside city limits but not under a HOA ( I would never live in a HOA hood) who did affect all of us with his unfinished projects, yeah I get it. When the rats and coons take over and the attractive nuisances atract human rats as well, it gets ugly.

But I did not involve LEO's, I gave the neighbor rules, I built a big, solid fence and set up a gun that made urban kiling easy. Then I sold the house because I knew it would only get worse after his wife died.

    You should see it today.

You ignored my question. Are you okay with me moving in next to you and doing all the things I said? If not, what are you going to do about it? Good luck finding anybody who wants to pay your asking price on a house next to the dump I'm living in. I guess you're just out of luck.

You going to pay the increased property taxes on my place being right next door to your palace creates? I'm not really sure why your property value is my concern.

Moot issue, nearest neighbor is 3/4 of a mile a way through the woods for me, I don't feel the need to dictate how my neighbors live
