Are these more expensive than other knives?
I know that is a fairly vague question, but I know nothing of these "auto" you all speak of.
I am intrigued though.

^ Which in my opinion, is a stellar bang-for-buck knife. I really like mine, and Elmax steel is phenomenal stuff
Now that is cool! Benchmade offers a patina finish
I would check with Brad on Ordering.
It appears as though Federal Law still prohibits auto knives to be shipped across state lines(with certain exceptions- I was able to meet those exceptions) therefore, I think you would be in violation ordering an auto knife online from out of state seller.
???
Says who, says where?
That's interesting. All I've seen all over the net is that it's now legal to own, carry, buy and sell them. No reports on a 'catch' in the law. Can you please post the link to where your copied and pasted text came from?
Obviously, there's going to be many who make their purchase online to find exactly what they want. So is this kinda like the marijuana tax stamp
I've noticed on some sites such as Benchmade, you're supposed to fill out a form in accordance with the federal law you cited above in order to make a purchase. Many other sites do not offer this info up though. So it looks like many could be unknowingly breaking the law.
AUTO
Same as on Benchmades site. If you send it in for warranty work/sharpening service, they won't mail it back to you without a AKO form signed. They will only mail it to a dealer in your state.
LifeSharp Service
That is why it is recommended you go through a dealer (Such as Brad/Knifelady etc.) Not only are you buying it from them, he can provide the service needed as well.
I'm betting a majority are looking to get into an auto for less than $30, so they're more than likely going to be buying them from sites selling clones. I think the OTF autos are pretty cool, but I'm not willing to spend $400 on a knife that isn't durable enough to be trusted as an EDC. It's just the nature of their design. Not here to debate on the usefulness of an auto, I think they're cool. But for the price of an INFIDEL I could have another handgun. Hence my point, I think many people are buying from sites selling cheaper autos that don't pay lip service to the federal law we're discussing.
PS...I'd love to check out BRAD'S knife collection to be purchased here in state but I don't see a link to his purchasable collection nor do I probably live by his shop to be convenient for me.
Well, I don't have a web site or an actual store front. I mostly do gun & knife shows. I also ship and do FTF transactions.
Brad, do you have a list of the shows you do?
