    This last year I inherited my grandfather's old Remington Sportsman '58. Recently the base plate on the action cracked on me. I found a third party replacement for $35 on eBay but I'd like to keep the gun as authentic as possible so I'm trying to find an original factory piece. Any leads on where I may find one would be greatly appreciated.

    Reportedly 2 action bar styles, the older version more prone to breakage.
    So "authentic" might not be best.
    Numrich's lists the new style, sold out though, and $70 per.

    Used to be a shop/'smith that specialized in the 58 a few yrs ago. Can't find it now (just looked). Probably an old timer that passed along, was 4 or 5 yrs ago I got parts from him.

    I recently got a clean one in 20 gauge. So may be needing parts down the road as well.
