Last Saturday, 2/12/2011 I purchased food items (walmart brand nutty bars) at walmart for $1.00 even. Tonight I went to purchase the same items and found the price to be $1.18. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that 18% inflation over a 1 week period? I know it's not the same for all items, but thought this would be a good place to start posting and tracking what we actually notice the inflation rate to be in terms of food since I think it's going to be where we are hit the hardest and the fastest. I will buy or at least check this item once a week and post the price I will also try to notice any differences in volume/weight per package as that contributes greatly to the actual price and inflation rate. I also suggest that you check weight as well since that seems to be where a lot of the sneaky price increases are happening, they charge the same price or even a bit less, but cut the weight by 10%, 20%, or even 50% leaving the package the same size and no one notices that they are paying 10, 20 or even 50% more....Ever notice how the toilet paper roll keeps getting more and more narrow?

From what is being written online and told by some on TV, some food items have risen by 130% or more in the last year, IIRC. One TV person even joked that orange juice was going to be the new "luxury item" to have in the house.

On the news the other day they said that the price of sugar has doubled in just the last few months. There are going to be a lot of angry people with a painful sweet tooth that won't be able to afford to satisfy it.

I am so tired of the media and gov telling us that there is no inflation. They lie about that just like they lie about the unemployment rate. Inflation is here, it is not bad though, yet! It is inevitable, and coming to a theatre near you. The numbers don't lie, America will be the last and most affected by our obsessive spending/money printing. Along with community organizing on a global scale by leftist, socialist, marxist, communist, and fanatical islamist, inflation is a major driving force in the chaos around the world right now. Their inflation rates are more quickly affected by our economic actions. Our economy is falsely propped up right now, but gov spending will only make it all worse in the end. When fuel and energy cost rise it will crush the economy. Energy, food, and clothing will be affected most by inflation, but who needs that stuff, right? Good luck trying to convince the average citizen of any of this though, as I am sure you already know. I am getting so tired of ringing the bell. It is time to just prepare some things to be able to aid my family and others, should things take a turn for the worse. If you don't get it by now you never will, and that's just how it is. I have faith that there are enough of us at there though, that can take care of enough patriots to restore this great Country.

That is double bad for me! Food prices going up, specifically sugar, AND that means my work production (and therefore profits) will eventually be going down. Hopefully toothpase will also go up to make up for the lack of sugar intake.

C'mon Doc, don't be down. bad teeth must be from genetics. I have a huge sweet tooth, and not one cavity. My daughters have had cavities galore, plus I just spent $6,000 in work on my oldest. I think your job is fairly secure.

BTW, I used to buy peanut butter at Sams club, and it has doubled in the last few years. Inflation is rising, and I believe we are lucky that it hasn't increased into "hyperinflation" with the amount of money the "Federal Reserve System" has printed in the last few years!

It has in some parts of the world. Our money printing is the cause of the inflation driven problems in the middle east right now! They cannot grow food in the desert and rely upon us to sell it to them. They are the only reason it hasn't smacked us in the head like a hammer. It's coming fast and it was intentional.
