Last Saturday, 2/12/2011 I purchased food items (walmart brand nutty bars) at walmart for $1.00 even. Tonight I went to purchase the same items and found the price to be $1.18. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that 18% inflation over a 1 week period? I know it's not the same for all items, but thought this would be a good place to start posting and tracking what we actually notice the inflation rate to be in terms of food since I think it's going to be where we are hit the hardest and the fastest. I will buy or at least check this item once a week and post the price I will also try to notice any differences in volume/weight per package as that contributes greatly to the actual price and inflation rate. I also suggest that you check weight as well since that seems to be where a lot of the sneaky price increases are happening, they charge the same price or even a bit less, but cut the weight by 10%, 20%, or even 50% leaving the package the same size and no one notices that they are paying 10, 20 or even 50% more....Ever notice how the toilet paper roll keeps getting more and more narrow?
