I'm looking for GSG-9 22lr mags.

A friend of mine called me today because he's having trouble locating GSG-9 22lr mags. His GSG is a pre h&k lawsuit gun. I gave my google foo a try and had no luck finding any mags online for him. I see GSG-5 mags and Promag GSG-5 mags and that's all I can find. I'm unsure if those will work in his rifle or if the h&k mp5 22lr mags will work either. I would like to think since GSG lost the lawsuit it was a complete knock off of the h&k and the h&k mags should fit? Any help would be appreciated.

The GSG 9 is pistol and the GSG 5 rifle are not magazine compatible.

I'm leaning towards the direction of he doesn't know what rifle he has. I have also asked him to send me pics of all marking/letters on the rifle. He's stuck on second shift and won't be off for a few hours. But I am wondering if the gun has gsg 922r compliant stamped on it? I know its a 22lr and have googled gsg-9 22lr and only see the pics come up of a pistol.
