Hello all! I am looking to become a first time gun owner before the new administration takes office in D.C. I am looking into some NRA basic pistol courses for my wife and I to participate and get a general knowlege of safety and handling.

I look forward to picking up some tips for a newbie.

    Thanks!

You've come to the right place. For a newbie you already sound like you're headed in the right direction.

Were there any other reasons why you chose to purchase a firearm recently?

    Welcome!

Thank you for the reply. One of the reasons I am going to purchase a firearm is because it is my God given right as an American to own one! I also think it will be a fun hobby for my whole family to participate in rather than sitting around doing nothing.

I hope to pick up some good tips from some experienced gun enthusiasts on this forum.

Welcome to the site, and definitely kudos to you for knowing that training is so important! If you're looking to be a hobbiest, be sure to checking out the sporting aspects of it, too, like USPSA and IDPA -- wicked fun. :D If you're into rifles at all, I've heard great things about the Appleseed program (on my list of things to check out even though I'm not really in to rifles).

Anywho, enjoy your stay! Pull up a chair and stick around a while! :D
