I've had Verne do appraisals before. He charges $50 and gives you a printed copy on his letterhead. I needed one once for a gun that was fubared in my trunk when I was rearended.
I'm not sure, I took a second gen. Colt Woodsman match target to Cabela's for appraisal and they told me it was only worth 350.00. Don't think so. That's why they have one there for a grand? It's in nice shape, only has a 1lb. trigger pull too.
Any of the value books are only a reference. Desirability in the area that it is being sold is what you want to look for. Visit the local shops and see what they are pricing the same gun at.
