So about 6 years ago I was arrested for battery, and I was wondering if I could still own a firearm. No it wasn't a felony. And I know what some people will think, "violent people don't need guns." I'm not a violent person, sometimes you do what you have to do. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Was it a crime for which you COULD HAVE been sentenced to 1 year or more in jail?

Sounds like you should be good to go, but then again I'm not a lawyer...
Thanks for the info. I'm not sure if it matters, I would think it does though, but I worked for a firearm distributor after got arrested. I would think that they wouldn't let some one work there if they weren't allowed to own a firearm.

i think if you have done your time then you should be able to own whatever. i previously felt convicted felons who served their time should'nt be able to own a firearm, but i have since changed my opinion on the issue. if you do your time, then you deserve the same freedoms again that I have. If you screw up again, then you should have the book thrown at you harder though! good luck, i hope you get you LTCH

For misdemeanor battery, the threshold questions are who was the alleged victim and how were they related to you (wife, live-in girlfriend, relative, etc.)?
