Glock 19 2nd Gen.

I know someone selling a Glock 19 2 Gen. I have not seen much about those. Are they as good as the others? It does not have a rail does it?

They don't have the rail or the finger grooves. They are great guns. They are the gun that the glock rep was built on.

I have a gen 2 G23. It is pretty much my EDC. Same gun on the inside with a little more plain exterior.

2nd Gen Glocks are widely accepted as the most reliable. As stated, they don't have a rail....not a deal breaker for me. If you can get a "low miles" Gen 2 G19 for a fair price...buy it

I have a 2nd Gen G19 that I bought new in June of 89. It is my EDC and my son has already claimed it his when I'm gone.

Same here, however, if I were to come across a G2, it would snatch it up in a heart beat. My buddy has one that he put the hogue grip wrap on and it fits my hand like a molded glove.

I dont like the finger grooves in the mid size Glocks so 2 Gen for me, I carry a G-23 and have pased the G-19 to the wife, both of those are 2nd gen guns. There is a 3rd Gen G-19 in the handguns for sale forum now thats a nice deal also.

Gen 2 is good to go. The only thing I would change is the recoil spring to the new/revised one with the "1" on it.
The recoil rod is much stiffer. They are not expensive.
If you are lucky, it could have Austrian proof marks on the slide and barrel... like little eagles.
If it's a 100% Austrian gun, definitely buy it.
Gen 2's typically bring less money than used Gen 3's.
If it's pretty well used and abused, I would pay $350-$375 for the gun and 2 mags.
If it's minty fresh, $400-$425-ish
The well used Gen 2's are easy to spot. the frames have a tendency to really smooth out and get almost glossy.

I would love to have another gen 2 19. It's my EDC and I don't like the finger grooves on gen 3 or 4. Lack of rail doesn't bother me a bit. If you like Glocks you can't go wrong if its a fair price. Very minor difference between them and the newer gen 3s.
