    i got this email from berger today and dont know what a fill ratio is. anyone else know?

    ok i cant get the email to show for some reason

    it lists

    bullet -power-start load-app start vel-max load-app max vel-FILL RATIO

    Not having read the message, here is my guess.
    It has to do with how much of the available case volume of a cartridge
    is occupied with powder. A lot of reloaders will choose an appropriate
    powder that fills most of the available powder space. This is done to
    achieve more consistent results in pressure and velocity. It also makes
    it very obvious if you double charge a case.

    that was my original guess but some of the powders have ratios above 100%. i think the highest was 109.9%. i tried to copy and paste the chart here but couldn't. if any one would like to see it send me a email address. or if anyone is curious of what berger recomends for the 243 95 gr vdl ill be glad to get you a copy. berger doesn't publish in any of my reloading books for some reason

    9.9% sounds like a lot of compression.
    I looked through a few manuals and a few
    google searches and could not find anything
    relating to amount of compression. Only that
    a load was compressed. You may want to ask
    them to explain that a little better. I don't load
    243, but if you'll share the info I'll drop you an
    email. Sounds interesting.
