    Rather than turning off my lights for an hour once a year, I try to actually reduce my energy consumption year 'round. I'm in it for BOTH kinds of green, not just to sing Kumbaya and hold hands.

    Hmm, At most I would have 5 15W bulbs on for that hour. That is 75 watt-hours I will have saved. That is equal to 1 penny saved.

    Not that I mind. My wife and I already use about 4000 less Kwh than the average household for an entirely electric house (wood burning stove). I plan to make that gap even larger in order to afford to go off grid.
