Lately, I have received 4 or 5 calls from a LOCAL number.
    On my cell phone.
The numbers have been 812-583-xxxx just like they were someone from right here in Bedford.
I answer and get the "We are calling about your credit card. There is nothing wrong..." speech

Now, you must know, I NEVER hang up.
I like to mess with these people.
Usually, I pretend like I am interested and when the guy goes in to his sales speech, I lay the phone down and go back to work.
They usually don't notice I am not there until most of the way through their speech.
It wastes more of their time.

The first time, I thought, aha local number, I got you now, and called right back.
    WRONG.
Some guy answered and I asked him if he just called and he seriously did not have any idea what I was talking about.
    They are spoofing local numbers.

    But the calls are persisting.
So today, I got another call from a local number, and pushed 9 for an agent and just went off on the guy.
I told him I wanted off of his list and I was disgusted that they were spoofing local numbers.
He said I could get off the call list for $10.
I said I would not give him 10 cents and called him a criminal, a low life, and some other stuff I can't remember, and explained to him how people like him make me sick.
THEN I laid the phone down and got some coffee while he was talking.

Is there no rememdy for these stupid, criminal activities?
