Seen some of the Winchester Yellow box ammo. I don't think I will be paying over $40 a box of 300rnds for 22LR. For that price, it needs to perform like 22-250. Does anyone think that it is really collectible?

Walmart. Saw it Thursday in Warsaw. Was excited they had 22lr, until I saw the price. Federal 00 buckshot (15 shells) also went up to $19 (from $15) this week.

I've seen that ammo at Bass Pro. They had lots of it last weekend at $29.99 per box. Didn't buy any since I've been getting eley force ammo for the same price shipped to my door

WM in Beech Grove had the Federal and the Super-X. Super-X was $40.18/300; passed on it for the Federal at $21.16/325

I saw that awhile back at the East Washington WM. Couldn't believe what I saw

    .
$70 per brick isn’t too bad for match ammo, but Winchester doesn’t produce a single true “match” quality .22LR round.

Not sure if this yellow box Winchester is the same super x. The ones I have shot came in a translucent red 100 round plastic sleeve and they shot real well thru my custom 10/22. Not sure what "match quality" would be but I can't do a whole lot better with "higher quality" ammo such as Eley or SK

Bottom right target at 50 yards. Absolutely perfect conditions

Not a bad single group. Years ago, I had a Savage that really liked Wildcat.

Ask the same of that ammo, or ANY rimfire ammo Winchester makes, across hundreds of thousands of rifles and pistols, 100+ countries, 365 days a year, at 50 feet through hundreds of yards.

Qualifying as “match” ammo means that it can pass those requirements and “hold its own” against others of the same.

    Winchester won’t claim that themselves.

$70 per brick is about the very bottom of the scale for anything to really start to shine under the requirements above.

I therefore maintain that this yellow box stuff is highway robbery.

Wabash Walmart had at least 10 of these overpriced ($40) yellow Winchester 22lr boxes on the shelf. Dunhams had a lot of ammo - lots of variety, but expensive. Supply seems to be getting a little better but pricing is at a point where unless you absolutely need it, most will pass.

I bought a box of it from bass pro. Shot 15 or so rounds out of a smith and wesson mp22. There is better stuff out there at better price points in my opinion.

I don't disagree. I wouldnt spend 12-15cpr on it that's for sure. Would give it a go at 5cpr though. Never tried to duplicate those results in the same conditions. Just know they worked well that day. May not even be the same round anymore
