Colt had these collectible Damascus blade bowie knives made (no idea who their actual maker was) for a while and I picked one up. This is a beautiful art/display piece. I wouldn't call it a weapon so much because they put a display edge on it (not razor sharp) and to me, it's just too pretty to beat up. I have the original box with it. No paperwork on this as they didn't come with paperwork. This would be a nice one to add to your collection for a very reasonable price for a Damascus blade.

Do you have any way of knowing if it's true damascus and not simply pattern welded? True damascus steel often goes for way higher than $70.

JD, pattern welded. Just didn't want to bother explaining pattern welding vs. crucible steel so went with what most folks call "damascus". That's why it's only 70.

Edit 8/26 - Grizhicks is right. I found the same markings on my box. Couldn't find any marking on the knife itself.
