Does it just twist off? My eotech hangs over the forend about three inches because I have my magnifier and back up sights on it. It mounted to the receiver but it's a 516 so it's a little longer.
That's a good reason. Once you've had it off a few times, it gets easier. I usually put the stock on the floor and pull the ring down. How far does the EoTech stick out?

Whatever you do as far as a cleaning regimen, at least make sure that you are giving the rifle a reason that it is dirty other than gathering dust in the corner.

My AR sits more than I shoot it. I only built it so I had something as close to what I had while I served as an M4. I'm starting to get parts together for an A4 build so I could have something similar to what I had in boot camp.
I've had plenty of trigger time behind those 2 to last me a few decades before I feel the need to bust them out and go hog wild. If I take the profire class to learn how to reload 223/556 I may then shoot more, but when I do take my M4 out I clean it like I was in boot camp as mentioned several posts above.

Can't tell on brand but I don't see any anti rotation screws on the sides, just a jam nut. So I'll assume there's just 1 screw on the bottom and the jam nut. You might be able to just twist it off (after you remove the screw), but you might either need a jam nut tool or a strap wrench, just really depends how cranked the jam nut is.

But yeah, I'd take the eotech off
