Hey all, so I bought a Calico M-100 today for $350. My buddy pointed out the serial number to me, and suggested that it might be a early model. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is info out there? My google-fu was weak and figured I'd try here.

Me too, 350 IS a steal.. Interesting design and they are still making them. would enjoy playing with one but I think the new ones are about 7-900 and I don't want to play with one that bad

Good price, .22LR. I have owned several of the 9mm variety, and still have one. Reliability issues on a rifle by rifle basis- I kept the best one. It takes a long time to shoot through a full mag.
I have to say I am a fan of the good old M-100. Per a conversation that I had with the original owners, the top one was owned by one of their engineers who first wanted a standard bird-cage type flash hider that threaded on, before the conical one piece was decided on. The original also had a see-through mag so you could watch the rounds disappear.
About the only thing you need to be careful about is how to set the mag spring to load it, and how much to wind it. The spring that turns the drum isn't the strongest and I have had to replace a couple that broke. I would either go online to find winding info or call the new owners of Calico to see if they have an available owners manual and mag care guide.

Finicky is a good term. The mags are both the selling point and the Achilles' Heel. The 9mms are also noteworthy as being a roller-delayed action. Super light recoil and almost no muzzle rise. If you can learn how to keep the mags happy it'll be grins all day long.
