I'm about to buy some more backup/replacement rings and I ran across these.

    Has anyone used them?
If so are they any better than mil spec rings?

    .
The main thing about McFarland rings is that they are...

"...easier...to keep track of and install."

    :D

    Get some.

I suppose it's possible for your gas rings to rotate into a position where they line up and bleed off pressure.
Has it ever happened to you?
Has it ever happened to anyone you know?
That being said, one piece rings remove the remote possibility of this ever happening. One less thing to worry about. If the added cost is not prohibitive, and the "insurance policy" helps you sleep better at night, then, by all means, use one piece rings.

I would stick with the three piece rings. I've tried one piece before both McFarland and JP, both of them caused short stroking. The JP were fine at first, but problems started after a couple hundred rounds. The McFarland I noticed my ejection pattern immediately changed from 3 o'clock to 4 o'clock after installation.

I also noticed after installing both of the one piece rings the bcg would "collapse" when stood on its boltface like it had worn rings. Once the one piece rings were replaced with three piece rings the problems went away.

I perfer the milspec rings because it’s easier to test for when they need to be replaced.

Also FWIW, If you’re rifle is in spec, it will run with 1 gas ring. Spacing the gaps is something you can do, but after initial installation, I never worry about it.
