Any hunting (squirrel) near Mcormick Creek State Park?

Title pretty much says it all. Heading down that way to camp in a few weeks and wouldn't mind trying some squirrel hunting along with with hiking and fishing, so does anyone more familiar with the area know a spot that will fit the bill? I've tried searching online, but with no luck.

Tons of state land there. Google Owen Putnam state forest. Stop by the forestry office for a map. It is located right off 46 just west of Spencer.

Lots of dnr there too, so make sure you are legal.

Perfect! That's exactly what I was hoping for. Close to the campground and open for hunting. Already got licenses, so we should be ok, and I'm also aware of the bag limits and gear requirements. Looking to have a campfire squirrel stew, mmmh!

bocefus got it right, that state land is a patchwork all over the county so make sure you know where you are. The state land/private property boundaries are not all marked.
