We have discussed this topic, at length, before. ACT will now allow .22's, pistols and rifles, in our basic (101 tier) defensive classes. We realize that the dynamics of the rimfire guns aren't the same, but feel that it is the training that is important and the particular gun used is secondary. Plus, let's face it, there are those that by choice or circumstance, will use a .22 in a defensive role.

Obviously, should a student decide that the .22 will make the training affordable, then a .22 conversion for their primary gun, or a gun that closely mimics the primary gun, would be best. There are a few really good conversions on the market that would be ideal.

We also have to remember that the same rules will apply. For the pistol, you'll need a holster that covers the trigger and allows one handed holstering. also, remember that in most classes, we will be reloading, so something like a glenfield mod60, though a fine rifle, might not be appropriate. the ruger mk II, with the heel of the grip mag release might not work, but the mark III with the american style mag release likely will.

No matter what .22 you decide to bring to a class, if you have questions as to it's suitability, contact us.

This is currently for our defensive classes only, the competition classes are still under discussion.
