2021 Squirrel Season

We have stupid Crawford County squirrels here, they climb down on your side of the tree and bark at you. I don't even wear my glasses...

Come to think of it, the turkeys aren't much smarter. I had to chase them off the porch so I could shoot them in the head without tearing up the deck boards...

Saving my vacay for mid November as always. But October is the bees pajamas for so many reasons.

Got a buddy that wants me to hunt his ground before the neighbors mess everything up (last year we counted 5 tree stands on about 5 acres)

We use to have a bunch of fox squirrels and some were big and fat. I haven't seen more than a few this year on property. I wonder if they died off. Gray squirrels are much more abundant this year. So I won't be hunting fox squirrels this year.

Smaller, bit I'd rather eat a grey anywho.

Last year the folks down the road that feed the deer all year (the deer come to the deck when the feed is out) saw only 1 doe all season. She did not leave their yard

Yeah. I had to check real close. I thought I had missed too. But for some reason, this rifle loves the fast ammo. It does really good with stingers too.

Out with daughter #2. Unsuccessful hunt but a very successful day. Nice weather, did some deer scouting while at the spot. Little lady and I had a blast.

I'll eat them all, but something about a mess of small greys for the cast iron and gravy bath. Fox always get the BBQ-crock pot treatment.

You know, it's weird. Normally our yard has at least 5 or 6 squirrels running around at any given time. Obviously I can't shoot them here where I live, but today, I haven't seen a single one. I wonder if the rabbits have put up a sign saying "Squirrel Season" somewhere, like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck used to do with the Rabbit Season and Duck Season signs.

Taking my aged 7 son out for the first trip of the season Friday night. Going "camping" outside of my grandparent's house and hunting Saturday.
I'm also taking the opportunity to let him shoot a 10/22 charger. Will be his first ever firearms experience.
