Son of a close friend was hunting with a crossbow this morning on some private land near Culver. He took a shot at a doe from about 30 yds, he was on the ground behind a big tree. He said he knew there were a couple other does with it but he was focused on the one he shot at. He said he watched it run about 30 or 40 yards and drop. He went back to his truck to get his ATV and he came back and put his doe on the cart after dressing it out. He was making a U-turn on the ATV to head back out when he noticed the other doe laying on the ground. Shot through the chest cavity. He thinks the other doe was 15 to 20 yds behind the one he shot at but wasn't sure. I’m not making excuses for him, but he just started hunting with a crossbow this year and I think this gave him a greater appreciation for the power behind that crossbow. He had purchased the bundle license so he was covered for tags. More meat in the freezer!
