IN Supreme Court: Police May Not Detain Armed Hoosiers to Check Handgun License

Gun Guy: Supreme Court Says Police May Not Detain Armed Hoosiers to Check for Handgun License | 93.1 WIBC "On Monday, the Indiana Supreme Court issued its much-anticipated ruling in Thomas Pinner v. State, which addresses the issue of whether police officers may detain and question a person...

'Open Carry' walk sparks gun rights discussion at U of L

Both, but the chances of changing the administration's mind is equivalent to the chances of being struck by a meteorite.

'Open Carry' walk sparks gun rights discussion at U of L

Yes it is, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! I've organized eight public university Walks in Ohio since 2014, some of which Ilya and Aaron have attended - so when Ilya contacted me and ask that I organize the UofL Walk, I gladly did so. Ilya and Aaron drove the student participation level to the...

Do East Chicago & Gary have local laws that aren't preempted?

IndyDave1776, thanks for your PM, but I can't reply because I don't have 50 posts yet - and at the rate I'm going, it's going to be a while! But... take a look at my avatar on OCDO: View Profile: BB62 - OpenCarry.org - Discussion Forum

Do East Chicago & Gary have local laws that aren't preempted?

Thanks again to all of you for the follow-up. I'll post a summary on OCDO, and link to this thread for those who may want to follow-up further. You've all been a GREAT help!

Do East Chicago & Gary have local laws that aren't preempted?

Thank you for the detailed and interesting reply, and thanks also to Kirk Freeman & T. Lex for their further analysis of things. Although there is clearly more to the OP's question on OCDO, let me focus on the state preemption part. I understand the part about preemption not being allowed to...

Do East Chicago & Gary have local laws that aren't preempted?

Although I'm a fairly longtime member here, I mostly frequent OpenCarry.org these days. There's an old thread (from 2011) on OCDO (OpenCarry Dot Org) where the OP asserted that (at least at that time?) E. Chicago & Gary had some laws not subject to preemption. Would you fellows take a look at...

Organizing an OC event in Indy! Stand up for your Rights!

No doubt. And leaving aside the US Constitution, in Indiana, where you have a RKBA in the state constitution, needing a license to OC is definitely bogus! No other RIGHTS I know of require one to obtain a license in order to exercise them. Again, congratulations! It was an honor for us...

Organizing an OC event in Indy! Stand up for your Rights!

One more thing - Indy has a VERY NICE downtown. All of us Ohioans were impressed! Whether you do the next walk partly on your version of RiverWalk (when you get the preemption matter addressed) or not, I think all of us were interested in returning to Indy to spend more time and $$.

Organizing an OC event in Indy! Stand up for your Rights!

Unless I missed one, there were only three of us - me (Jeff), Kent (former Marine) and Joe. Two of us are from Cincinnati, and one from Dayton. If we appeared to be four, that's okay too! (next time, we'll bring more) It was MORE than a pleasure to come. Kudos to Ryan and all the rest of you...

Organizing an OC event in Indy! Stand up for your Rights!

FYI - during the first OC walk in Ohio (in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Northside), there were quite a few LEO's around, though they were in cars, not on foot. There were some issues with antis, who were threatened with arrest for pointing at (shooting at?) some of the walkers with their...

Organizing an OC event in Indy! Stand up for your Rights!

Another suggestion - here in Ohio, one of the OC walks was planned for a certain route, but the organizer missed the fact that the planned route exposed the firearms of the walkers to the storefronts only. We walked with traffic instead of against it, and most people being right-handed... You...

Organizing an OC event in Indy! Stand up for your Rights!

Greetings! I am from Cincinnati, and have been made aware of the planning for this event by an Indianan. I am posting here to keep apprised of the situation. I apologize for not reading all 42 pages (!) of the thread, but wanted to suggest that you might want to contact the Second...
