Tip "Up" Pocket Carry - Be Careful!

The very first thing I did when I bought a new leek was slice the end of my finger reaching to pull it out of my pocket. I make it a point to keep things pointed down for safety from that day on...

Help on one I can't get sharp!

I have the standard worksharp machine, have yet to find a blade it cannot put a shaving edge on. One thing I have noticed with this over conventional stones is that it will get away from you in a hurry if you are not paying attention to the shape of the edge. Usually it is only a few passes...

need a little information about h110 powder

LSWC and H-110 arent typically the best match in 357. Its a powder that likes to be pushed hard, and lead bullets without a gas check tend to prefer being pushed under 1200 fps. I try to keep the softer ones around 1000 fps to avoid leading issues. Find yourself some jacketed 158's, and it...

      44 mag - 180 gr jsp

That is exactly what I have found to be true with my lever gun (also a Rossi), but the handi rifle never did group anything very well. I tinkered with it, eventually recrowned the barrel, and now it will stack the 180's on top of each other out to about 75 yards. My rifle doesnt shoot these...

      ''J'' FRAME REVOLVERS

LOL, No wishing for a 45 Jframe. now, a snub nose S&W 25 might peak my interest a but though :):

Radiology room lead - going rate/fair price (per pound)

That is pretty soft lead. I have used it to cast muzzle loader bullets, my dad has also made shotgun slugs out of it with fairly good results.

      44 mag - 180 gr jsp

I have not shot a deer with that round, but it is the most accurate factory ammo I have come across in my sons Rossi handi rifle. It is also pretty famous for making a lot of noise and flash in handguns. Im not saying it woldnt work, but it is kinda light compared to most 44 loads, might not...

      ''J'' FRAME REVOLVERS

I have to agree the LCR does seem a bit easier to shoot than the J frame. My 442 and 60 both have a tad more felt recoil than the wife's LCR. Not a physics major, but I can feel a difference. All the same, I still prefer my airweight Jframe over the other little revolvers.

      BEST 9mm 1911?

I'll second the Hi-Power as the best option for a 9mm 1911. Its a JMB design intended for the 9mm, not a 45 gun made to work with a smaller cartridge. Not only that, but as a carry gun, the high power carries easily, has a higher capacity, and looks good doing its job. Remove the mag safety...

      Help me pick a canoe

You want durability over anything else, look at aluminum. If you are looking nice, bump your budget a little, and look into the fiberglass or carbon fiber (even more expensive) They will glide across the water, where an aluminum will plow through it. The plastic(polymer) or whatever else you...

I believe the answer is no

And if I remember correctly, the woman in Resivor Dogs was shot anyways. It does seem that if an ordinary citizen is seen carrying a gun in a movie, they are either a criminal, or extremely inept, deranged, or mentally questionable. Im sure that there are movies out there, but they are few and...

      O'Malley is Pissed.

Have to agree with you here. Placing blame on anyone (or thing) besides the sick individual that took it upon themselves to commit a horrific crime is just burying your head in the sand. Until society stops pointing fingers at everything but the problem, and not holding people accountable for...

semi auto with 'tilt up" barrel, which ones?

I had a Beretta in 25 acp with tip up barrel, and it was horrendous for me. It would usually get the first couple of shots off without a jam, but I could count on it not being able to finish a magazine without a stoppage. I gave it to my uncle as a gift, and he has had zero issues with it. I...

Gun Killings fell by 40 percent after Connecticut passed this law

The statistics that we see any more are typically very slanted in the direction that the person(or organization) taking the survey want them to go. Anti-gun people will not take a survey at the NRA convention, just as the NRA typically wouldnt select a demographic in a liberal college for their...

Vince Vaughn - protect schools with firearms

Will I get bent out of shape over some Hollywood type that wants to stand on a soap box and tell everyone that gun owners are barbaric? Not likely. Will I go out of my way to see their movies, and help finance their fortune and fame? Probably not. On the other hand, I will appreciate that...

      J frame internal locks

I have a 442 that has the internal lock in it. Removing it never really crossed my mind. It has several hundred target loads through it, and no less than 2-300 +p 38 special loads through it, and the lock has never moved. As for the J-frame 357s, well, if your a masochist enough to shoot...

      Prepper/Storage Green Tip?

They are kinda cool, but yeah, its over priced. But then, if we put down everyone here for paying too much for something, this would be a busy place, and probably not much fun to hang out in, lol. The whole "nitrogen purged" thing is the only part I find a bit over the top. Our atmosphere is...

      Changing attitudes

With the recent events in St Louis and Maryland becoming the new "normal" people that would have never thought about firearms and self defense as a personal responsibility are starting to see where the more enlightened crowd has been coming from.

NC Bill Declares Federal Gun Control Invalid and not Enforceable.

I fail to see any difference in the two scenarios. Honestly, with that thought process in mind, why would there be any need for the Fed to have any laws claiming authority over a citizen? Shouldnt it leaving the citizen to the state, and the Fed to govern the states..

      Rimfire version of carry weapon?

I have a GSG 1911 that I bought to compliment my Springfield 1911. It feels the same, and has helped a little, but mostly it gets brought out when a new shooter is wanting to try a semi-auto handgun. Almost no recoil, accurate, and functions exactly like the standard 1911. They are a great...
