      Remington 11-87 Won’t Fire

Thanks for all of the responses and ideas. I’ll try to dig into it the next day or two. I did swap out the stock and fore end for an aftermarket set. I cannot remember if I fired since swapping it out, or if if hasn’t fired since I did that. Would that have anything to do with it not firing now?

      Remington 11-87 Won’t Fire

Hi INGO I have a Remington 11-87 Sportsman 12 gauge. I’ve had it out waterfowl hunting twice now, and when the trigger is pulled, the gun does not fire. The trigger moves/pulls, but doesn’t fire. I have dry fired it and it seems fine, though. I do not see anything on the shells. I’ve also...

      Crossbow Newbie - Questions

Good morning Ive borrowed my dad’s crossbow with the thought of possibly trying to deer hunt (Illinois) later this archery season. I’m a generally novice deer hunter and especially archery/crossbow hunting. For those with experience, do you cock your crossbow (no bolt) on the ground and then...

Thanks for all of the replies everyone. Confirmed - I was over thinking it. I was fortunate enough to take a doe Saturday morning. This is my first deer, and it was awesome.

      Deer Hunting: Quietly loading gun

Hi INGO I am a new deer hunter, in Illinois (shotgun). This may be a dumb question, but something I was thinking about. How do you quietly load your shotgun, once you are up in your stand? I hunt with a Mossberg 500, so naturally it is noisy to close the slide and load the first slug...

      AR500 Armour - Freeman Package

Does anyone have experience with rather Freeman plate and carrier setup from AR500? Looks small and compact, which is intriguing. I see it is only level III and smaller plate size. I’m 6’ and about 220. Curious if anyone has any comparisons?

      Hunting Knife Recommendations

Thanks for the reminder in Moras. I have one somewhere, but had not considered it for hunting. For skinning, how large/small of a knife do you recommend?

      Any good prepping podcasts?

I have enjoyed a few episodes from Casual Preppers (definitely a laid back tone but good insights that aren’t extreme). The Prepper Website Podcast has also put some good stuff.

      Hunting Knife Recommendations

Hi INGO What recommendations can you provide on hunting knives? - Primary focus would be for deer hunting - Prefer fixed blade over folding - Would like a sheath with it - Open to two knives if a larger fixed blade paired with a smaller skinning knife is suggested - More of a traditional...

Hello What suggestions would you have on intro-level holster options for a Springfield Hellcat? I am not looking for daily carry. I am looking for affordable options to get familiar with. Options under $50?

      Storing Veggies & Fruit

Hi Everyone Outside of canning or refrigerator/freezing, how do you store vegetables and/or fruit for storage? I am not referring to trying to store for a year plus, but nor am I referring to storing for a week. I have heard of folks having actual root cellars where they store root veggies...

      Bulk Storage

What do you put your sugar in, if you don’t put in Mylar bags? Just it’s original paper packaging?

      Bulk Storage

Thank you so much for the help. Very helpful! Do you have specifics foods that are recommended for storing like this? Or foods that should not be seal in Mylar and O2 absorbers? Am I reading correctly that an O2 absorber should NOT be used with sugar?

      Bulk Storage

Thank you for the reply. To confirm, any new/clean bucket will work correct? Also, are you saying to put the Mylar bag in the bucket, fill up the Mylar bag, and then close the bucket lid (with the oxygen packets in with the flour/sugar/etc)? I guess I’m not following if the Mylar bag can be...

      Bulk Storage

Good evening What is the suggested methods for storage of flour, sugar and other bulk items to keep best? I have seen references of using Mylar bags and 5 gallon buckets, but I’m not exactly clear. Ideally, I would be able to access it and pull some out for use from time to time.

Optimal twist rate for 18” 223 Wylde

Good morning Is there a preferred optimal twist rate for an 18” barrel in 223 Wylde? Majority of the 223/556 rounds that I shoot are standard. Would like the ability for more accuracy, but not really looking for a dedicated precision gun either. Thank you

      Basic Prepper Comms for Newbie

Appreciate all of the replies so far. Just to confirm, a license is needed to broadcast on a GSMR radio? Does the family license cover parents? To clarify, a GSMR radio will only communicate/hear from GSMR radios, correct? Regarding budget, would $50 get me started?
